Man arrested in Denver airport bomb scare

Authorities arrested a man at Denver International Airport after he said there was a bomb in his luggage, a United Airlines spokesman said.

The man was angry because he missed a connecting flight from Denver, Colorado, to Salt Lake City, Utah, on Saturday, but his luggage was still on the plane, United Airlines spokesman Rahsaan Johnson told CNN.

"He was disruptive in the gate area and made inappropriate comments," Johnson said.

At that point the plane, which was still taxiing at the airport, was brought back to the gate, and airline employees removed the man's bag from the plane, Johnson said. The flight was delayed for an hour as authorities investigated.

The man is being charged with interfering with public transportation and will be taken to the Denver jail, according to Denver Police spokesman Sonny Jackson.

Don't blame the airline because you didn't leave enough time between connecting flights.

Even if the airline told you 40 minutes was "plenty" common sense should have told you that it wasn't, especially if you're not familiar with the airport or have to go through security of any kind.

I always allow for at least 2 hours in connecting airports, and book a later flight if the airline or travel agent tries to tell me that they can get me through in less time.

There are nearly always unforseen problems when travelling, such as weather, gate delays, waiting for aircraft in front of you to take off, etc, and it's never wise to leave a short transfer gap.

Hell, even the wind if it's blowing the wrong way can lengthen your flying time and throw travel plans into chaos.

Travellers need to travel smarter, not quicker. With the availability of wifi etc at airports it's not like you can't find something to do to pass the time if everything goes according to plan.

Berns, how is that a bigoted comment?

You do realize that mormons follow the bible but go against it's teachings by adding to the bible and following that book, correct? So right there you can dismiss the mormon religion.

Secondly, the bible as well as the koran are full of contradictions, so many that they cancel each other out. If you really wanted to dig deep, you'd find that religion is just its own form of government.

Anti-religious comments are in no way insulting. They merely shine the light on what the rest of us are thinking. Sheep will believe in anything. For any of you bible thumpers out there, I know the majority of you have no idea that the bible specifically authorizes the killing of gays.

How's that for bigotry, you sheep.

Good point BatCat. (D) and (R) leaders only pretend to be like us. In reality, they are on the same page.

Kevin, you don't know what you're talking about period. It was a 7 year old that was shot in Detroit and not under the conditions you claim. Her name was Aiyana Jones. Google it and educate yourself a little.

This story somehow reminds me what happened 5 years ago in a Wall Mart when my daughter was 5 years old.
She was in a bad mood all day and when she started yelling and screaming and kicking I picked her up to take her back to the car.
I ignored her protests, but as I was walking past two security guards at the Exit, she yelled at them:
    "He is not my Daddy!"
(I took me 40 minutes to get rid of them ... )
Abracadabra, Abracadabra! Poof! Now you have two new parents!

A person who thinks they are so damn important to get from point A to B should have their own private aircraft. I rest my case.

There is a FAA Regulation that if a person misses a flight, his bags need to be removed from that flight before the plane takes off for same reason as this scare after the idiot announced he had a bomb in his luggage. I don't know about you folks, but I feel no safer today than I did before 9/11 when traveling on a plane. In fact I think it is less safe because both airline staff and passengers are under much much more stress and the airlines is not helping by adding costs for everything but taking a pee, reducing seat and baggage areas, and not waiting for delayed flights to land where people could be delayed at an airport for a minimum of a day to a week.
