Baby survives 7-story fall

An 18-month-old girl in Paris, France, appeared unhurt after falling seven stories and bouncing off an awning into a man's arms, witnesses told Le Parisien newspaper.

Witnesses said the child and a sibling had been left alone briefly Monday in their seventh-floor apartment in the city's 20th arrondissement, east of the central city. The girl fell out of a window, but a boy on the street saw her falling and alerted his father, who caught the baby after she bounced off the awning of a tobacco shop and cafe on the building's ground floor, the paper reported.

The man with the quick reflexes and good hands, a doctor, looked over the girl and didn't find any injuries, but handed her off to an ambulance crew to be safe, according to Le Parisien.

What can you say to this other than kudos for the fellow who made the catch, and shame on the parent for not taking adequate measures to protect the children.

@taffy piper: I immediately thought of Tex Avery when I read this!

Jesus had something to do with it! Proof schmoof. I know so because I speak with him telepathically. Me and myselves agree on this.

The only thing more cartoonish that could have happened, would have been if the baby's diaper turned into a parachute as she was falling

Actually thank the man and his son. God did nothing! As a matter of fact he let the baby fall out the window.

George, you need to be more careful with your replies. First you claim "there is no God" in an earlier comment, and later claim "God did nothing!" You're latter comment implies God does in-fact exist, which undermines your claim. Seems to me that you don't believe your own claim. The important point of this story is that a child is alive, not whether or not you believe God exists.

To: to george in LA – Gosh, how desperate are you for your beliefs to be validated? You are deliberately twisting his words to mean what he obviously did not.
Good luck with the rest of your grasp on reality, you obviously need it.

Semantically, To George was correct. Written word does not have inflection, and therefore, the safest way to perceive it is completely literally. Whoo the baby is ok!

Hmmm.... Just saying, but if everything happens for a reason, then why did the baby fall out of the window and then be saved? I wonder if my typing this comment to infuriate and annoy people is happening for a reason...

Noooo George , you big fat ugly atheist. Satan pushed the kid out the window. God saved her.

I'm really glad she's ok, too, but why would God let her fall out the window in the first place? I like God and all, but I don't think he was paying much attention to this little girl today.

There are millions of religions, most of which have one or more gods. I'm sure the god or gods of each religion was just as responsible for this act of man (and son) as the god you call god was.

Praise Allah! That would fly if we were in the Middle East. How about praise Zeus! Praise Thor! Praise the Flying Teapot! Get out of town, if there is a God he clearly doesn't care about one baby. Where was he when someone else's baby died a tragic death?

Your father Satan pushed the baby out the window and God saved her.
If you don't believe in God, at least have the common courtesy to keep your misguided insanity to yourself. Or is this your way of convincing yourself that you're right and there is no God so you can live like an animal your whole life with no price to pay at the end?

I almost can't believe this, because it's too perfect of a setup. Like T.I. Just so happens to be strolling by to save a suicidal jumper a week before he's due in court. How many seconds does it take to fall seven stories? Factor in child's comprehending what's happening and the brain process to verbalize it to his father. Then the father's same brain process going from thought to reaction. The baby also just so happens to bounce off an awning like an Indiana Jones movie. If this really happened it's truly amazing. Perhaps Michael Jackson was dangling her out the window? Ba doom ching?...

George, You can not blame God for other demonic people's actions. Those people CHOOSE to murder and harm others. God simply gives us the ability to make a choice. There is right and wrong and he is not who should be blamed for our devious actions. He is holy and PURE! But has the ability to deliver you also. Don't blame God for the devil's existence in this world!!!

So...God doesn't actually do anything, He just sits back and hopes we don't choose to fall out windows? Wish I had that job, I hear the perks are amazing.

From one person I hear divine intervention, and from you I hear that everyone has a choice. So did the baby choose to jump out a window and then be saved? Why didn't He give her a choice on whether or not she wanted to jump out of the window?
