World's tallest Jesus statue completed

Workers in Poland finished erecting the world's tallest statue of Jesus over the weekend, a 170-foot (52-meter) giant that towers over the countryside near Swiebodzin.

"This is the culmination of my life's work as a priest. I felt inspired to fulfill Jesus' will, and today I give thanks to him for allowing me to fulfill his will," Father Zawadzki said after the head was attached by a 700-ton crane, according to a report from the Warsaw Business Journal.

A crane places the head on the world's tallest Jesus statue this weekend in Poland.

The height of the plaster and fiberglass Polish statue surpasses the 40.4-meter (133-foot) Cristo de la Concordia in Cochabamba, Bolivia, and the 39.6-meter (130-foot) Christ the Redeemer statue in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil, according to news reports.

Local officials in the town of 21,000 people hope it will be a tourist attraction.

"More people will visit Swiebodzin and leave their money," Radio Poland quoted Dariusz Bekisz, the mayor of Swiebodzin, as saying.

The cost of the statue was covered by local donations, according to the Krakow Post. It will be officially consecrated on November 21.

The statue simply proves that people, even Christains, are still firmly rooted in the material world. Were they truly spiritual they would see this kind of image as unecessary and a distraction .

LOL, I like how the one guy that doesn't know how to use a caps lock or shift key properly refers to some 'doctor' on youtube for the truth.

    Gotta love the internet.

While the intent may seem good, it's wrong because the Lord never wants us to have any natural images of Him, and if you really want to get technical about this, what features we do know about Him according to the scriptures reveals He didn't look like this!!! Hair as a lambs wool, hands and feet of fine brass. I wonder why people don't want to put up any images of Him according to the scriptures? I know why, because He doesn't look _____ , but looks _____...

All the "believers" are claiming fact based on a book that that has no scientific proof of being 100% correct. Please prove you are in 100%, without a doubt, everything the written word of the christian bible says is fact and that all other books from other religions are incorrect. I'm waiting.....

Please don't say someone is going to hell because they don't believe in the same book that was most likely made up to create a more stable society and to profit from.

@Doug..the burden of proof is on you my friend. Jesus lived, spoke, died and rose again and 60 years later, it was recorded by HIS followers who walked with Him for 3 years approx. If you have a hard time with the claims of the Bible, read it for yourself, study each books origins, etc. Don't trust anyone for yourself. Go find it out. If it is all true, then you will be held accountable. If it isn't, then you simply find out how one guy lived and how it affected the entire world for thousands of years. I would say that statistic alone is worth the time. There is an interesting story at leestrobel.com Check it out!

No will, the burden is on the one making the outrageous claim. You claim your to know god but have no verifiable source other than a book which has been shown to be full of idiotic pablum that even children dont believe.

How can you be a Satanist AND an atheist? Don't you have to believe in God to believe in Satan? I think your theory needs more work, Adolf.
