Former President George W. Bush continues to work the media circuit, promoting his 500-page memoir "Decision Points," which hits stores today.
The hourlong interview with NBC's Matt Lauer aired Monday, and Bush will join the network's "Today" show on Wednesday. Fox's Sean Hannity spent time at Bush's Crawford, Texas, for an interview that airs this week.
Oprah's pre-taped interview with Bush airs today. A preview clip shows Bush saying, "You're asking me to wade back into the swamp."
At 8 p.m. ET Sunday, CNN's Candy Crowley will interview the ex-president on "State of the Union."
Overall, there appears to be no topic Bush won't tackle, and he talks extensively about regrets he has regarding the war in Iraq and Hurricane Katrina. The Huffington Post gathered some of his quotes from the Hannity interview, including Bush admitting that he sometimes "didn't get my words right." That's all right, he said, because the public never elected "Shakespeare."
Addressing the Iraq war, Bush told Times of London that waterboarding saved British lives.
For actual criticism of the book, the Wall Street Journal offers a run-down. Revered New York Times critic Michiko Kakutani said the memoir makes Bush seem "both oddly passive and strangely cavalier" while the Washington Post's Jonathan Yardley was more pointed, saying the memoir is "competent, readable and flat."
Well you sure don't need a drugged and drunk president, or do you? Are you any clearer now?
I guess you've never gone out and tied one on with a few buddies before then? Most people who criticize Obama or Bush's past drug use are past users themselves. There are plenty of perfectly successful adults who have a "past"
At least Barack and George were open and honest about it. They could have lied and said they didn't inhale.
Ouch-That's a Bill Clinton zinger.
Did you know that America sends $billions$ to the Colombian government yet cocaine production has gone up year after year? If I weren't deceased I would say thank you America! Instead of destroying our national product you are funding it's production. Perhaps you should try destroying the cocaine fields... Hmmmm.. Nope that's too easy.
One expensive use of toilet paper.
George Bush was a good president and is a good man. Those babbling about his being an idiot are a little confused. He and John Kerry, that intellectual 2004 Democratic nominee, went to the same university, and Bush had better grades than Kerry. Google it.
Former German chancellor Schroeder just proclaimed that Bush did not write the truth concerning him in his little rubbish book. It should be in the "fiction" section in any case.
The truth according to Bush. Self inportance.
"I'd have killed 'em all," Bush writes, "But then, nobody would've been left to buy my book."
No, I do not miss him.
George Bush doesn't care about black people.
Only condie and she wasnt stomping in his office during Katrina was she?
Avon, are you black? I am tired of people playing the race card; it is starting to ring hollow and I think most american's agree!
If you want to talk about criminal administrations, look at Obama's. The worst president ever so far....his crime...hating on america...what a loser!
Response to 90 jolly guy in red suit. No you may not call me Dick. However that was very witty. I have not heard that one since the 3 grade. I do realize oil is set on a global price. However you must not anything about global economics, foreign trade or just sales in general. Just because something has a list price it does not mean it has to sell at that price. That is high school economics 101
I heard Bush is gonna be in Harold and Kumar part 3. He was pretty funny in part 2.
Avon Barksdale you may be right but I doubt it. the fact is it is not his job or any presidents job to CARE about any particular color or race. It is his job to PROTECT us ALL. It is also not his job to run the state of Mississippi or the City of New Orleans or the bloody City fathers who cowed to the local environmentalists who stopped all efforts to improve those levees. How come none of the people who actually are at fault. the ones who were told that the levees would not withstand a 100 year flood are not in prison for murder? They are all the loudest voices blaming everyone but themselves. If action was taken when it was attempted the entire disaster may have been avoided. Oh and one more thing, why is it that people who live below sea level and lake level who have to pump out rain water to stay dry. It is called freedom you want to live there go ahead. It has a cost and you have to ride with the bet just like people in tornado alley et al.
