Overheard on Cruise blues

COMMENT OF THE DAY: "I really need to start printing T-shirts that say, 'My grandparents went on a Carnival Cruise and all I got was this T-shirt and a box of Pop Tarts.'" - MaryLandMom

Imagine being stuck at sea on a luxurious boat and eating Pop Tarts. Toilet problems and power outages notwithstanding, a few readers said the stranded cruise ship passengers aboard the Carnival Splendor couldn't really complain given all the suffering that goes on in the world. Others sympathized with the passengers' harrowing holiday, while still more imagined many of the passengers would have a great horror story to tell at cocktail parties.

Check out what readers had to say about this and other talked-about stories today on iReport

Boo hoo... Step back and think about it for a minute. I think this episode speaks volumes about the pettiness and the whining materialistic nature of many American citizens. Most people around the world have it much worse on a day to day basis. Stop complaining about everything all the time and be grateful for once.

Taking trips to people throughout the world whether rich or poor involves many different destinations and lenghs of time. Some are on Cruise Ships to exotic places and others may be just a bicycle ride to a nice field for a picnic, a walk to a river/lake to swim or just to sit in a shaded area. Along the way the power may go out aboard the Cruise ship, a flat tire may occur, one may get stung by bee or others may be occupying the shaded area.
Wealth has nothing to do with it. Expectations for all groups have been ruined. To each the degree of loss is the same because sitting in field enjoying a nice picnic, swimming in a river/lake and sitting under a nice shade tree are just as valuable as taking an exotic cruise.
Do not belittle the joy people receive from the simplist things by saying others do not have a right to complain when things go wrong. Things go wrong in one form or another on trips to all people whether rich or poor.

tomcat. Gilligan's Island? Ginger or Mary Ann, who was hotter? I think Ginger. The voice, taller and nice nice body. Kinda unrealistic though. There would have been babies born.
Mary Ann looked like she was good breeding material. Ginger never would have baby. That body would have to stay like it was. Perfect.
