'Pedophile's guide' pulled from Amazon.com

The controversial e-book, "The Pedophile's Guide to Love and Pleasure" has been pulled from Amazon.com, a spokesman for the online retailer confirmed Thursday.

The self-published title's appearance on Amazon.com led to a public uproar and calls for a boycott of the site. As of late Wednesday, more than 2,000 Amazon.com users had left comments on the listing, nearly all of them condemning the site for selling the title.

The e-book's author, Phillip R. Greaves II, said he published the controversial tome to address what he considers unfair portrayals of pedophiles in the media.

When asked about the controversy, Amazon.com spokesman Drew Herdener would not respond.

Certain books or media should not be protected speech. If it promotes criminal activity of course it should not be legal to purchase. Humanity should evolve not regress back into neanderthal behavior. The Nazis burned books that they found would hinder their desire to murder millions they deemed disposable. Communism also has used printed propaganda to murder millions. Freedom of speech should have a common sense exception. I'm still not ever going to use Amazon again.

    Lee is an idiot.

Censorship happens all the time. Freedom of speach should not be open ended and it isn't. If it's not OK to write a book that promotes hatred it sure and heck shouldn't be ok to write one that promotes the illegal act of pedophelia. Who knows if the idiot who wrote the book really meant it or likely if he was trying to put himself in a position to turn around and try to sue Amazon for discrimination.

It's sad that people like this author exsist, no matter what motivated him to write the book but even worse there are people who defend it's publication and sell.

Yes pedophilia is taboo. Yes it is illegal. But censorship is wrong regardless of the text. What if I need to know how a pedophile thinks for my job? What if I want to know how a pedophile thinks so I can avoid possible pedophiles in the future? Information should be easily accessible. Always

I mean "yes, well done," Roger Blatto. As for "Person," well...your assertion was true back when lions ate alfalfa and hamster's hunted mastodons in packs.

Dear mr. Evil, apparently you aren't familiar with the censorship laws. Those laws are enforced by the government; in this case the public's outcry is the reason for the removal which is not censorship in the typical meaning but their response to their customer base.

Jesus is gay. CNN never posts my comments because they are anti-christian and CNN wants to be the next fox news. Christianity is evil.

I highly doubt they censor you because you are anti-christian, your "intelligent responses" are probably nothing but typical troll swearing that has no real message behind it. But once they pull it down, you immediately cry, "freedom of speech," but the first amendment has nothing to do with this because CNN is not the government and they are not persecuting you.

I'm sure Jeff Bezos is shocked at the content. HE would never endorse nor sell this type of book. Someone at Amazon did not do their job and I'm unemployed!!!! I'm probably overqualified!!!!!

LOL, I bet this guy's salary is six figures too; he'd probably make a better poker player than a spokesman! Amazon spokesman Drew "tight lips" Herdener.

It is the right of this person to publish their book. However, if I owned a bookstore, i would not carry it.

Censorship of some things is good. There is no such thing as absolute freedom. You gotta have stop signs or my exercise of freedom will impinge on yours...maybe even kill you. When a society values "freedom of expression" over protection of the helpless...we plot our own destruction. WHAT we censor is the question. A civil and just society protects those who cannot protect themselves.
America, who sold you the idea that we have to be "tolerant" of whatever crazy or evil idea is sold to you?
