California court rules illegal immigrants can get in-state tuition

The California Supreme Court has ruled unanimously that illegal immigrants may continue to receive in-state tuition at California colleges and Universities.

The decision overturns a lower court ruling.

In their ruling, the state court said California law specifically guarantees in-state tuition, a lower price, for students attending local schools for at least three years.

In their ruling, the court said that state law does not conflict with federal prohibitions for educational benefits for illegal immigrants ased on residency.

This story is developing. We'll bring you the latest information as soon as we get it.

  1. Hello

    U$A soon to be USM

    United States of Mexico

And you "citizens" can't do jack about it. You are not in control. They just make it look like you are. Your votes don't matter. Stop wasting your time.

You've got to be kidding. I had to pay out of state tuition for both of my kids and they're US citizens. These illegals aren't even supposed to be here and they get in state. This is incredibly wrong on so many different levels.

Let's change it to if you're a US citizen you pay one rate no matter what state you live in and what state you attend college in, and if you are from another country, legal or illegal, you pay the higher rate.

Agreed, that many of the college age illegals were brought here by their parents when they were young and didn't have any choice in the matter. Seems like college aid for them should be tied to some kind of public service for their "new" country (and I don't mean being a volunteer for La Raza.) What about living in a black inner city and helping out those folks they are leapfrogging over up the immigration ladder. What a farce: if you come from out of state to CA you pay out of state tuition without any aid. But if you come from out of the f-ing country, here illegally, you get a break and pay less than out of staters or foreign students here with a legal student visa. And one more thing: if an employer gets caught with an illegal on his payroll, both the illegal and the employer get deported back to the illegal's hometown, and the employer goes to work for the illegal.

This issue is not about Illegal Immigrants.Illegals our just tring to get everthing they can. The problem is with the supreme Court. They our not up holding the law of the land. They our just a group of people that think they our above the law. The men and women on the supreme court should be thrown off the court for treason. The people of california should find a way to get rid of the people on the supreme court that break the laws of the United States. The supreme court is suppose to up hold the laws of the United States not make them. This court is a rouge court, they need to be stopped.
The people of California should do what Iowa did and vote those people on the court off.

what's the point of trying to be a legal resident alien when you get exactly the same benefits being an illegal resident alien?

Correction: You get LESS rights as a LEGAL alien, who pays tens and thousands of dollars to be legal than ILLEGAL aliens

California has gone to the crapper. I have lived here over 40 years and I am soon leaving this arm pit! I can't wait. The illegals run this state at the tax payers expense! Wake up people. I am not rich, I can barely keep up with my bills and yet an illegal can come in and get free everything and now low cost college! It's disgusting! It sounds like a pathway to citizenship to me. I guess to make up for the irresponsibility of our federal government and its failure to secure the border. And all you idiots out there who keep saying that we all come from illegal immigrants, I know your too stupid to know this because you have not been in this country long enough and lack the education of our history, but yes our ancestors were immigrants but they didn't come here to get free assistance like you all come her to get.My grandfather came from germany with nothing and didnt have his hand out to receive a dime from the government and all he spoke was german, but learned english because not learning it was a disgrace! There were No free rides back then. and they Learned to speak English, unlike you. You don't care about being a U.S. citizen , truly you know your allegiance lies with your own country. So get off your high horse and just know this country owes you NOTHING!

what is really a shame that most of you that are commenting seem to be lazy: oblivious to american history, desire to change the politics but limited only to vote, and trying to do the least while getting the most benefits possible . for every dollar spent on education, seventy cents is return to the economy. Personally, I am so deeply glad and grateful that Ill be returning to finish my bachelors. And in the same way, eagerly to give back to this country what it has already giving me.
