Where is Judge Roy Bean when we need him. Give Rangel a fair trial and then boot him out of Congress. He seems to be another Adam Clayton Powell....I am above reproach, etc.

I now live in NC, but come from NYC. Yes I agree, where is Judge Beam when he is needed. What has become of people. We even allow these (congressmen & women) FULL benefits after just two years of service. We are all crazy to let these people run rough shod over there employers (us). Maybe (they) should not be allowed to give themselves anything. All benefits should be on the local ballots. Then maybe we would see these men & women working for the people not themselves. Changes may be coming. I just hope it does.

NO way. He knew this was coming for so long and he doesn't have a legal team prepared...STALL.
What is sadder is his district revoted him in?? Talk about buffoons.

No sadder than Florida electing a crook for their new governor and Georgia essentially doing the same. When it comes to Repugnantcans, criminality doesn't matter.

What a complete joke...so 5-6 months is not enough time to hire a team of lawyers. He probably already has a team of lawyers and they are recommending that he to pull this stunt at $500/hr. These are serious allegations and they all just think they are above it all. If I did what they allege my ass would be in jail and in so much trouble with the IRS that I would lose my job. My shock factor and disappointment with politicians is virtually over. Nothing these bozos do shocks me anymore. THEN THE DISTRICT OF KNUCKLEHEADS PLACE HIM BACK IN THERE! We get what ask for – don't we!

Ohh well. Business as usual. Charlie will "wangle" is way out of this and still keep is gold plated healthcare and incredible pension while the rest of America struggles to keep their homes and jobs.

You folks at CNN need to stop writing such long blog entries. Let's try and trim it down to only one sentence next time.

They investigated him for 2 years. Back in July he tried to cut a deal with the committee to avoid a public ethics trial. I think that's long enough for him to find a lawyer.

I love how so many politicians think they are above reproach. Especially after the sheep in their district re-elect them.

But, what would happen if he were thrown out of Congress and sent back by his district?

That's just not as cool. Besides, the dribble they get away with publishing here no longer resembles journalism in any way at all.

THis guy Rangel represents eveything wrong with politicians and why the tea party became so popular in the US. His party should show him the door rather than be allowed to further spit in the face of America. He is disgraced and I am sure he stole his way back into office. People in Harlem can't be that stupid to vote this piece of trash in again???

He's got to be kidding! Based on this alone he proves he doesn't have the mental capacity to be in Congress – let alone be responsible for himself! Time for a guardian to be appointed.

I wonder what would happen to me, your average lower middle class working man, if I walked out of court saying I havn't had time to prepare a legal team. I think I'll try it and see what happens.

Rangel is as corrupt and unethical as they come. Evidently Democrats like their politicians that way, as they keep electing this buffoon. This guy needs to be out of Congress NOW!
