Remains found of missing Ohio women, boy

The week-long search for an Ohio woman, her 10-year-old son and a family
friend has ended with the discovery of their remains, Knox County Sheriff David Barber said Thursday.

The bodies of Tina Herrmann, 32, her son, Kody Maynard and friend, Stephanie Sprang, 41, were found in garbage bags in a hollow tree near Frederickton, Ohio, Barber told reporters.

The three went missing last Wednesday, along with Herrmann's 13-year-old daughter, Sarah Maynard, who was found bound and gagged in a basement over the weekend.

The owner of the residence, Matthew Hoffman, 30, was arrested on suspicion of abducting her. Hoffman provided authorities with information that led to their bodies, Barber said.

That's not very detailed, but it's a sorry outcome, anyhow.

    • Seriously?

We won't get much as far as details right now. Should hear more as the investigation progresses. At this point. . .do you really need to know more than you do right now?

Why do YOU need to know? The whole family is dead and you need details to satisfy your curiosity?

To the ones who want to KNOW ALL, you do realize that if the police release all information, that it could ruin any chances for a guilty verdict in the case? Do some research before making such comments.

Hoffman, who abducted 13-year-old Sarah Maynard, gave cops the information to find the bodies, wimmers. I think that will lead to some answers.

My thoughts and prayers are also with the young girl who has lost BOTH her mother and her brother. Regardless of what a person "believes" that girl is going to need all the support (and yes..prayers) she can get in her life from this point on.

thank you sherlocks. regardless the media has done a great job at distracting us from this urgent situation. i know investigations and what not, but why even release a story without info? professionally irresponsible.

Yeah, Moose! You tell 'em! Let's go back to the good old days when the newspapers got updated *maybe* once a day, when the evening news was off it was OFF, and all of this gosh-danged liberal elitist media got its facts straight before reporting anything. Sure, you might have to wait 48 hours to hear a breaking story unless someone you knew in a different city and decided to call you about it, but LIBERAL LIBBY LAME STREAM MEDIA LIBS LIBS RELOAD PALIN 2012 AND OTHER THINGS I READ ON THE FOX-ER-NET!

Your opinion is invalid. Go away.

It's what everybody feared, but very sad all the same. Condolences to the families & friends. This will be especially hard on the thirteen year old girl that survived. I wish her strength. May the kidnapper/murderer spend the rest of his days in hell on earth.

FootNote & MM, how could you possibly think that way? This poor girl has been through an extremely traumatic experience and has lost her mother and brother at 13 y/o. She was held captive by a sick psychopath who I'm sure is also a pedophile. Get real!

i am sorry for that whole community. we never expect such evil to hit close to home. it is almost unimaginable what one human can do to another. i think that our country needs to get away from mass consumerism and instant gratification, and mass media, and try to be a society that values family, friendships and faith and hard work. we are too desensitized to such violence due to the content of some tv and movies, etc.
