Minnesota Vikings fire coach Brad Childress

The Vikings have given coach Brad Childress the axe.

The Minnesota Vikings have fired their head coach Brad Childress. A statement released by the team says he will be replaced by assistant Leslie Frazier.

It’s been a controversial and disappointing season for the Vikings who went to the NFC championship game last season. Childress had public disagreements with quarterback Brett Favre, and got in trouble with owner Ziggy Wilf when he didn’t tell him about his plans to release big-name wide receiver Randy Moss.

The last straw came yesterday when the Vikings were humiliated at home 31-3 by Favre’s old team and arch-rival Green Bay Packers. That dropped the Vikings record to 3-7 and virtually eliminated any chance of them making the playoffs this year.

What is amazing is how many of the people who care enough to comment about this continue to butcher the QB's name. One person already brought light to this and people still get it wrong. Why do people insist on commenting even though what they are contributing has already been stated, repeatedly?

The really sad fact is all the pro teams here in Mn are pretty much a disappointment. Well I guess there needs to be a loser in every kind of game, guess Mn has that going for them at least.

So we almost go to the Superbowl last year (Brad Childress is coach). We Suck this year (Brad Childress) is coach, so it’s his fault? Nearly all the same players are playing this year as last year. And you got to factor in injuries. It’s not his fault the players are not stepping it up this year. So is Brad suppose to do special magic tricks with his Harry Potter wand that makes players play better? You can coach all you want, yell, have double practices, but in the end it all comes down to how well the players put forth their best effort! And their is nothing a coach or anyone else can do about it. When did football turn into a must win every single game sport? Some seasons are better than others. That is what makes it exciting. Now if you have a bad season, everyone is pointing fingers…talking about firing someone. Ridiculous! So what, you have a bad season. boo-hooo.. You try again next year! I can’t believe Wilf is going to cave in to a group of pansy fans. He should of kicked them out of the stadium. I think all these NFL coaches need to unionize and do something about this. This is ridiculous. Better yet, take Wilf and the Vikings and move them to a different state. If the fans and Wilf can’t support the team even through tough times, then we don’t need football here.

OK's F-A-V-R-E, not F-A-R-V-E. If you are going to comment on him, at least know how to spell his name.

I am not sure why everyone is against Childress. When you get down to it, he really was a great coach, leader, change agent. Unfortunately, no one really allowed him to blossom and show what a true leader he really is. I wish him the best of luck.

Change agent? Things haven't really changed there since Bud Grant. The Vikings can be counted on to be the league's most talented under-achievers year after year. Some of America's richest people got that way by consistently betting against them in big games....

I want a real quarterback for Christmas!! Someone who can really help us win!!

**Sung to the "I want a hippopotamus" christmas song.

Am I right Vikings fans? When was the last time the Vikings had a franchise quarterback? Someone they could rely on for more than a year or two. Someone like Rodgers or Brees or Manning.
