South Korean leader calls for 'action' after strike

South Korea's president called on his military forces to use "action" and not talk to punish North Korea for deadly artillery attacks on Tuesday, but international diplomats appealed for restraint.

"The provocation this time can be regarded as an invasion of South Korean territory. In particular, indiscriminate attacks on civilians are a grave matter," President Lee Myung-bak said at the headquarters of the Joint Chiefs of Staff here, according to South Korea's Yonhap news agency.

"Enormous retaliation is going to be necessary to make North Korea incapable of provoking us again," Lee said.

The North is fresh out of friends.... China doesn't want us spending their money lobbing shells in the neighborhood..... Russia is not the USSR and no longer sees it as a threat. I think we should finish the job.

The biggest threat from China is their land based attack. The US has air superiority over them and could cripple their military within days. I would suspect they have countless troops, but they pose no real threat in my mind. Our government will do nothing though, so rest your heads on that. All Hillary will do is condemn the attack. Saber rattling at it's finest.

You're everyone's problem (Kim Jong Il). That's because every time you go up in the air, you're unsafe. I don't like you because you're dangerous.

@Ace: I'm not opposed to your idea, but several posters yesterday suggested that SK can mop the floor with NK. I would tend to agree. If China gets involved then I would suggest SK's allies intervene. Personally I would just tail KJI and give him a new cruise missile hat for Christmas.

Havent we learned anything yet? A u.n. coalition, including china. That would eliminate that threat. "takes a community to raise a child."
