C'mon folks !! What's not funny about this story? The border patrol arrests Willie for pot possession while about 5000 more Mexicans crossed into the country illegally right under their noses. Here's a message to the Border Patrol..... Leave our senior citizens alone!!

No doubt Jeff. Pot is far, FAR, more safe than alchohol & tabacco but it's illegal. How many people are in prison for a simple drug posession charge? How many times have they released rapists so that they could make room for the real criminals, those that have an ounce of pot for personal use? It's as disgusting as it is pathetic. The laws are archaic & need to be changed.

After I told them I had marijuana they became incredibly abusive and threatened to send be to jail. To top it off on of the patrol spit on me as I was leaving. Just ridiculous.

      So let's think:
      1) All you folks getting illegal pot are the ones the cartels are supplying. Those who get in the way of your "supply" are killed or threatened with death. Yes, it's YOU. If you all stopped, the cartels have no demand for their product, and the killing stops – no reason for it any more.
      2) Adding more ways to induce bad judgment and bad decision making by willfully impairing your brain with drugs only adds to the needless physical, mental and emotional suffering of people around you.

Willie and everyone else smoking the dope are supporting the Mexican Drug Cartels by their use. In some ways, they could be considered traitors to the USA. Doesn't matter how much or little, you are still buying something that people south of the border are being killed for every day. Justify your use anyway you want to, but would you really recommend that your kids do the thing that you are supporting?

Like prohibition making pot illegal has made criminals out of ordinary citizens that we tax payers have to house in prisons and the only ones selling pot are gangs or thugs prospering off the illegal trade. Make pot legal and you almost destroy the drug cartels overnight. What is the number? Something like 37,000 Mexicans have been murdered in the drug war in the past few years with the Cartels pretty much running Mexico now.

The Drug war has been a complete disaster. Not one person EVER has died from smoking pot and yet thousands die every year fighting to keep pot off the streets. It's called supply and demand. People have been smoking pot long before any of us were born and people will be smoking pot long after all of us are dead.

Make it legal like alcohol, tax it and you wipe out the cartel, save thousands of lives and create a tax windfall for America to help pay off our debt. Or keep fighting the war and waste thousands of lives, spend billions fighting it, spend millions incarcerating our citizens for something much less harmful than alcohol is.

      A no brainer.

Yeah, right. And I suppose you are 100% completely law abiding at all times in your life? Like you've never run a stop sign or slid through a right on red, exceeded the speed limit by even 1 mph, jaywalked....you get the point. If everyone obeyed prohibition, then prohibition would work. The point is prohibition does NOT work and is abusive and tyrannical. If the law was that you couldn't eat healthy food, would that stop you from trying? Think that's ridiculous? Guess again, S.510 is being voted on Monday and that's EXACTLY what will happen if it passes. It's another abusive and tyrannical law being enacted *to protect us*. The prohibition on weed is no different. It doesn't work because people will not stand for it!

One thing they teach you when becoming a cop in N.C. is if you want to stop somebody on hunch, just follow them for 10 minutes and they'll end up breaking some law and you can stop them legally. There's so many laws on the books nowadays, you can't obey them all.

People look at the real reason it was made illegal. Money and greed. You will be surprised at what you find. We should be allowed to make up our own mind if we want to smoke weed. But the gov. They'll not let that happen. Control over the people in every way is where we are going. Allmost there.

dsanders says:People look at the real reason it was made illegal. Money and greed. You will be surprised at what you find.

Actually pot was prohibited (initially legal but you had to have a "stamp", and none were given out) largely due racial and ethnic prejudice. Pot was introduced in the US coming from Mexico, and popular in the early Jazz counter culture. So any such influences from Latinos or Blacks had to be stopped asap!! Eventually it fell under the "your nanny government knows what's best for you" plan that controls all drugs. Of course its all nonsense. Obesity (complications from it more accurately) kills about 300,000 folks in the US annually. So if doing what was best for us really was the issue, then clearly making high calorie/high fat foods illegal and sending the exercise police out to make everyone do their sit-ups would make sense, but of course such is correctly seen as absurd. Yet the government telling us what drugs we can or can not use, and further categorizing them having nothing to do with the pharmacology and impact on health and behavior is accepted. Its a strange world.
