Leave the guy alone. Why don't you arrest someone dangerous instead of a folk singer who brings pleasure to the rest of us. Come on now. Is there no common sense left in this world?

Just another way for special interest groups to make money off of BS regulations and policy by transferring money from our pockets to their own. Whether it be because of false wars, meaningless drug enforcement, or airport "fake" security, the stock holders make their money and the lobbyist bribe the politicians. They get rich infringing on our freedoms in the name of "security". It is a complete scam that we have been turned into a society of fear so that special interest can make billions off of our insecurity. If we stopped jailing people for drugs and cut back a little on defense spending we would have enough money to pay for health care. The rich do not want to have money distributed to everyone, just to themselves. That is what has be happening for 30 years and now the power has been so tilted to the wealthy that our democracy is disappearing. But on the bright side, Willie Nelson was busted for pot, way to move the country forward. I feel safer already.

busted him in the last 50 years at any time-always was enough residue in his
    beard.

Smoking dope makes you stupid. Long term use leads to mental disorders. Mix it with alcohol and other drugs, including prescription drugs, and the process accelerates.

No matter if you agree with the arrest or not, they were doing their job. I doubt they set up a sting operation to catch him; they probably came across a situation and had to make the arrest like they would have if it was any other citizen. I understand the debate about whether or not pot should be legal, but the officers were doing their job, just like the rest of us (if you are lucky enough to be employed, anyways).

Thank the lord our taxes went to take dangerous people like this off the streets *sarcasm* Does anyone not know Willie uses marijuana? That man may have smoked the first plant ever discovered. Who has he hurt? We arrest more of our citizens in this country than anyone else on the planet. Maybe we should all go check into our local jail to save them gas and surveillance money. I'm sure we've broken one of the rules of the police state somewhere. Meanwhile, the real criminals they work for lead corporations and take government jobs, then bail out the rich, ship your job to slave labor countries, and turn your little home over to wealthy bankers. You can sleep in the street, but heaven forbid you touch a plant.

This is news so that the public can see where their tax $$ went. Leave Willie alone! He's done more for our country than most presidents. Just sit back & smoke a doobie while filling up you biodiesel rig (because it won't ignite) & let one of your sober friends drive you around getting 40 mpg & putting some $$ back into our own damn country!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Isn't it about time this harrassment of the public stopped?

Clearly the masses of people on the planet have opted to use this substance
in preference to alcohol and icky tobacco
so let's get real –and save the DEA lots of resources they could be otherwise using to interdict seriously-bad stuff like cocaine and heroin.
Our jails are full of pot-smokers: THAT's lame!

With so many more important things to arrest people for–illegal immigration, heroin and cocaine coming across our southern borders, stashes of explosives discovered yesterday in San Diego, I could go on forever, and they are arresting an American icon for–smoking pot?!?! Where are our priorities? Even Pres Obama said he would not prosecute pot smokers, until he was elected and decided it was bad for his political future–what a farce. Leave Willie and the other millions of pot smokers in our country alone. They are harming no-one, but alcohol kills and injures tens of thousands of people every year in car accidents and bar fights. But ban alcohol? Political suicide. Same for tobacco. How many people do we hear about killing people after smoking pot? None. That is why the AMA for the first time has approved investigating the medical uses (of which there are many) of marijuana.

Honestly Americans, this is insane. Your population can't afford to keep themselves healthy and this is your priority right now. For the most powerful country in history, your impact on the world is a disgrace.

Sincerely, one of 30 million frustrated Canadians.

Marijuana needs to be legalized, regulated and reclassified. As if marijuana being the #1 cash crop in California despite DEA efforts wasn't enough evidence, this comes along. The War on Drugs has failed us miserably and Nixon should have paid much more attention to the Schaffer Report.
