Leave Willie alone! He is an American treasure that has done more good for the everyman than anyone else. I quit blowing trees about 10 years ago mostly cuz I was tired. But I would gladly blaze one with Willie! God bless the Red Haired Stranger! Love ya Willie!

Hear Hear! Leave WIllie alone! He's done more for this country's poor and our farms & farmers than the US government has ever had the balls to do. He's an American legend and if he wants to toke up, then by the Almighty, let the man toke! The war on drugs is nothing but a big damn joke anyway. For shame! Haven't you government types given Willie enough hell already? Of course he smokes pot; it helps!

While I'm at it, how many people in this country know that if weed was legalized and then use it industrially, except the 'BUBONIC CHRONIC" we would be able to off set the deficit on this nation dramatically.....Willie has a truck stop in Texas where he refines his own diesel fuel to run in big rigs or his Mercedes
Just Legalize it., let the non violent offenders for pot possesion free from prison and weed end up with a bunch of stuff we currently import from everywhere else. Fabrics, cleaner burning fuels, the price of pharmaceuticls woud drop and we could put people to work.....what part of it doesn't GOVERNMENT GET? They know perfectly well why it's not legal. Read up on your candidates for 2012, lean on 'em hard and it will be legal

This isn't even remotely close to being accurate. Willie is a criminal. Don't like it? Change the law. But, I'm not paying for your lung cancer treatment or the damage caused by your DUIs.

@John – I think your opinion is sound but it is inaccurate. Read the facts about Pot, before making a decision whether it is going to cost you more to incarcerate people or let them do it recreationally. One fun fact is Pot Does Not cause lung cancer, that is tobacco. If a law was passed to legalize, the taxing on the sale of marijuana will generate a new state revenue. Also the violence at our borders created by cartels who traffic the drug would dissipate if the bordering states manufactured their own. Yes it is still illegal, but the question you should ask is why?

Here we go again. Hundreds of billions spent on the "Drug War" to no avail. Hundreds of billions spent chasing "phantoms" around the world with the world's most powerful but ineffective military, with no solutions in sight. Military budgets that suck $600-800 Billion a year out of the U.S. economy. Energy consumption policies favoring "Big Oil:" that suck another $300 Billion a year out of the pockets of U.S. taxpayers and send them to folks that would welcome your decline. Wake up. Read a little history and see what happened to the Roman Empire. It's over, don't the politicians get it, it's not rocket science. The U.S. is a society in decline due to excess, gorging and a self-righteous evangelical fanaticism that believes it has a "God Given" right to rule the world under the guise of protecting its interests and shares to many similarities to the same kind of fundamentalism it is supposedly at war with. There is such a disconnect between what the country purports to hold dear and its reality. An outsider sees a country that cares not enough for its own people to ensure all have good health care and education because that's just too darn expensive and borders on "Socialism". Yet has no problem spending trillions on the military and foreign energy. Instead let's pick on good folks like Mr. Nelson, harming no one and forget the real need to change the Conciousness and let go of the hypocrisy that plagues the country before all hope is lost. Citizens of the U.S. need to wake up, see reality for what it is and act accordingly to keep their nation great by first becoming a more tolerant, compassionate and less consumptive society before it's too late. Best wishes, your northern neighbour.

The REAL problem with legalizing pot is that it would take a large and FURTHER slice out of alcohol's market share than it already does!

Those not-in-the-know equate pot with tobacco: wrong!
Its effect is similar to that of two beers, but is a lot kinder on the body
      -particularly on the liver!

OK so the risk of lung cancer might go up, cry the regimented medical community, so in love with their little Cult of Wine
but as they too well know, SOMEthing's gonna kill ya!
No-one lives forever, not even doctors – LOL!

My fellow Americans, if what Keith says makes sense to you, do something about it. At the very least, take the time to study the political candidates with these ideals in mind, and VOTE. He's right... civilizations rise because of the good characteristics of human beings, and then fall due to the bad characteristics. It's happened many times in the past, and it will happen again. That said, I fully believe that something good will rise out of the ashes of America. But we will all endure great hardship before that happens. Ultimately, it will be the meek that inherit the Earth.

And for those of you that are unable to relate to anything I am saying...

Go US Border Patrol!!! Good to see that loser stoner get arrested again. At least our tax dollars are not going to waste. Willie does nothing but damage to this country with his music, his drug use, and his bio-fuels polluting the environment. He's just like the rest of the potheads... lazy bum who doesn't do anything to help others or help save the Earth. We cannot have our kids looking up to someone who does a drug this addictive and damaging to your health. It turns people violent, makes them aggressive, and makes them dangerous. Oh wait, scratch that... sorry, I was thinking of alcohol. But there's gotta be something bad about marijuana... I heard a lot of bad things about it growing up. I mean, if you give an irresponsible person a lot of water, they could potentially overdose on it... not that I'm advocating outlawing water possession, but come on, based on that, how can we trust people with marijuana? Well, ok... apparently it's physically impossible to overdose on marijuana because you'll fall asleep long before you could ingest enough to do so, but what about driving? We should NOT allow human beings to possess ANYTHING that impairs your driving.

Hey, if we call someone who smokes weed every night, but responsibly, and in the privacy of their own home a "stoner" or a "pothead", what do you call someone who drinks a few beers every night, but responsibly, and in the privacy of their own home? A "drunk", "boozer", "lush", "alcoholic"? I really don't want to work with a drunk or an alcoholic. We should push to change the law so that employers can fire you if it is detected you drank alcohol the previous night, even if you are not intoxicated or hungover the next day. What do you think?

This is getting out of hand. Pretty soon people are going to get fed up with idiot feds and take action.
It's hard to run an agency without money and we do have the power as a people to stop these gross abuses of power. Just wait till people get sick and tired of the feds and just quit paying taxes.

If anyone is intent on throwing someone in prison let us begin with those who are truly criminals. An excellent place to start would be congress. Jail both sides of the Aisle. Contempt of congress is a fact not a charge. Lay off Willie !!

Unless he was carrying enough to be considered "sellable" it's generally a cite in release. In TX, the local authorities might respond and book you, but I doubt he will be facing any federal charges. The locals could have impounded his vehicle too, which will cost a couple of hundred bucks to get back. At least he wasn't carrying illegal weapons like Lil Wayne... he got a year after being busted by the BP.

I bet he was baked. GO GREEN!

The child probably gets beat up in middlee school.
Give Willy the lethal injection for such heinous behaviour, I saw him in St. Petersburg>>>>I suspected he was on something>>>>Watson, he can actually play some good riff's on that old guitar of his. Thank God he was off the street for a few hours.
