Singer Willie Nelson arrested on pot charges
Country singer Willie Nelson was arrested Friday on charges of marijuana possession by the U.S. Border Patrol in Sierra Blanca, Texas, CNN has confirmed.
No further details were available, and a message left for Nelson's publicist has not been returned.

According to the government,Marijuana is a schedule one drug meaning they consider it more deadly that cocaine and heroin. Why do they still support this lie? are they REALLY that stupid, or is it just the fact they cannot admit lying about it for almost 80 years? Marijuana has killed NO ONE, compared to the totals of cocaine, heroin, and even more so ALCOHOL, Yet the government stands by its lie that Marijuana is the MOST deadliest,,,cough, cough BS.

Any thing that alters minds should not be used while operating vehicles on the highways, or any other place. it does not require the brains of a rocket scientist to come to that simple conclusion. vehicles are dangerous enough when every body is stone sober. Only an idiot would argue otherwise.

I have to agree with you too on that. Plus it isn't new news of this guy smoking pot. He has been a supporter for ages. We really need to legalize it. This new stuff to mimic it that has a chemical in it is the type of thing that is going to happen if we don't get the real stuff. There is way to much stress in society and we do need a way to relax.

I agree with Randy. How is this news? Now, " Why are our tax dollars being spent on this?" is news. Throwing a famous and good natured marijuana advocate in jail only goes to highlight the absurdity of wasting time and money on marijuana arrests.

What a waste of time. What a waste of resourses. How many of our soldiers were killed in Afghanastan this week? How many people died from AIDS or from cancer? Honestly, there are so many more other things going on in the world that need our attention than to worry about an old man getting high. The worst thing that ever happened to me when I was high is that I ate too much ice cream. I grew up with an abusive alcoholic Father. I'll take a chilled out stoned father over that any day. Reason, you are wrong maybe you should learn a little history or study some sociology. The reason pot is unlawful is because senators in California, Arizona, New Mexico and Texas forced it to be added in with other drugs to effect Mexican immigration. Way back in the 1920s and 30s studies were done showing no harmful effects from marijuana but those states had it added in to stop Mexican immigration. They figured that if Mexicans could not smoke marijuana here they would not come here. Congress needed the votes so they went with adding marijuana.

My opinion is based on ~ 40 years of watching first hand what negative effects pot, and other drugs, have had on peoples families, careers, and their lives in general. I don't want my kids going down that road. Are you okay with that?
Reason - please don't group pot with other drugs. Based on my 46 years of experience in watching the effects of pot smoking versus those of alcohol, I would vastly prefer that my children smoke pot. Vastly. I don't think that it's difficult to differentiate between ingesting a plant in it's natural form and ingesting other adulterated and chemically twisted substances. As far as "dumbing you down", yes, that's what alcohol and a lot of other drugs do. That is not what pot does. It might slow you down, in the sense of you're now taking time to smell the roses, but your thoughts on the roses would be far deeper than those of a drinker, or even of a completely "unimpaired" person.
Get over it and find a new way to relax, like a book.

I toked up while working full time in a professional office job and earning my MBA at night, not to mention I finished in the top-10% of my class. Pot, just like alcohol, effects different people in different ways. In moderation, you can live a highly functional and successful life. The issue is not pot or alcohol use, it's irresponsible abuse.
And I am sure some jerk will say something like "University of Pheonix isn't a real school", but the reality is I earned my MBA at an accredited private university which has been a top-10 school in US News and World Report's rankings for most of the last decade.
It's legal in Holland and they are doing much better than Americans.

I know plenty of doctors, lawyers, cops, dentists, real estate agents, investment bankers, accountants, that all light up occasionally. For you to assume that those who blaze it up now and then can not contribute to society or be functional adults means all you know about MJ is what you hear from conservative media. Check into who is funding all the anti-Marijuana legalization campaigns. It's the alcohol, tobacco, and pharmaceutical industries.
