It was easy to arrest an old man who has smoked some pot compared to a drug lord with a rpg. We are winning the drug war aren't we?

It's good to see the U.S. Border Patrol is controlling those "illegals" and the billions spent patrolling the border is working. (a joke) I vote Willie for President in 2012!!! Legalize it!

So how is the country better off now with the capture of this "hardened criminal"? Was it all worth the investment of the border patrol's time, the cost to do all the paper work of charging him, and the costs of the punishment?

    Exactly what has been gained?

CRITICIZING ANOTHER ON HIS/HER VIEWS I BELIEVE CREATES MORE OF A PROBLEM. IMAGINE IF A JURY HEARD ALL THE EVIDENCE AND IMMEDIATELY SAID NOT GUILTY. THAT WOULD BE THE BEST MESSAGE YET. say what u mean, mean what u say. but don't say it mean.

Exactly, Rich. If everyone serving on a jury knew that they can legally vote their conscience, regardless of the statutes, then the law would change quickly. It would be difficult to find twelve people that would put a harmless pot-smoker in jail unless they believe it when judges regularly mis-instruct them to rule on the letter of the law. There is no point to having a law on the books that no jury would allow to be enforced, but juries must understand that THEY are the foundation of our justice system.

Why is it OK to drink but a crime to smoke pot? May be it is time we teach to smoke pot "moderately" like drinking alcohol moderately. And stop wasting police and justice time arresting people like Willie Nelson. We admired Dean Martin for his singing even though he used to drink or at least act drunk. So why not Willie? Legalize pot and license pot producers and sell them in licensed stores.

Our tax dollars at work. As usual, being used to convince us that a 77 yr old minding his own business is enough of a threat to arrest him. Like so many other things attached to our spending, it's based on fear of ghosts and goblins. And things that might cut into a profit margin. Sickening. And we buy it every time. Lemme tell ya, pot isn't the thing that is a threat to rational thinking. It's the ability to use fear to influence people into making bad decisions.

The question is why should he get away with it while others just as dumb also use drugs and don't get away with it? Does being a singer or actor make you smarter or special for some reson? LOL !!! They won't throw him in jail ... just a fine and probation will do.

Legalizing drugs is about as dumb as using drugs. ONLY drug users and dummies want to legalize them. LOL !!! Get a life will you?

The real sad point is that in the rolls of the agents, the police, the state troopers, there are hypocrites. They all have skeletons in their closets [hence meant to stay there], they drink and and drive, they break the laws just like everyone else but like to see themselves as pillars of the city. Many are decent people that have problems just like you and I but there are some, not all, that get a willie from getting away with things that [they hope] nobody will ever find out about. I don't think that the guy responsible for busting Willie is going to brag too much outside of his buddie circle of this bust. It's laughable. Keep in mind they just like most are concerned about their jobs and will kiss the ars of their superiors just to get advanced in the system and/or keep their job. A funny thing happens to humans when placed in power over others and it's not a good thing to see.
