Actor Leslie Nielsen, best known for his film roles in "Airplane!" and "The Naked Gun" series, died Sunday of complications from pneumonia, his family said.
Nielsen died in a hospital near his home in Fort Lauderdale, Florida, surrounded by his wife and friends. He was 84.
"In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations in his name to the charity of your choice," the family said in a statement.
rip one of my fav. comedy actors and to his family and fans you have lost a dear sweet man
You will live on in the body of work left on film. I look forward to sharing some of your most entertaining work with my son (when he is old enough to appreciate it). My deepest sympathies to the Neilsen family.
Eveyone remembers his perfect deapan schtick in the Airplane/Naked Gun movies (and rightly so), but it's Commander John J. Adams in "Forbidden Planet" that will always be his signature performance for me. Godspeed, Leslie.
RIP. Heaven just got a whole lot funnier.
You will be missed never forgotten peace and love to you and yours
What a funny man. May he rest in peace.
Crap. Bet Saint Peter plays the Shirley gag with him. RIP.

Thanx for making us LOL at our very own lives!
Forbidden Planet.
His later comments about that role show the common intellectual depth of actors, but he did know how to make people laugh.
Rest in peace dude.. we'll always have Airplane.
He was a fine actor and a great talent. Although he will be best known for his comedy, he was a damn fine serious actor also. Remembered watching him in "Nuts" with Barbra Streisand....and he was Blanche's uncle that wound up marrying Dorothy in "The Golden Girls"....and of course, "Airplane!"
May your next life be joyful, as you've brought so many laughs to so many.
Hare Krsna.
RIP another great Canadian
RIP Leslie, you made me proud to have you as a fellow Canadian. You'll never be forgotten.
