Actor Leslie Nielsen, best known for his film roles in "Airplane!" and "The Naked Gun" series, died Sunday of complications from pneumonia, his family said.
Nielsen died in a hospital near his home in Fort Lauderdale, Florida, surrounded by his wife and friends. He was 84.
"In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations in his name to the charity of your choice," the family said in a statement.
You will be missed, Leslie. Your legacy will live on in your movies. Hope you are giving the Big Guy alot of laughs! R.I.P., Leslie. "Surely," you are one of the greatest.
Stop calling me Shirley!
Sad news!!! He was so hillarious! You always hope the good ones will stay around forever. RIP!!!
RIP. He was my son's favorite actor. He loved him in Airplane and the Naked Gun movies.
sa-da-tay!
Man, that really sucks. Thank you for all the amazing laugh's Leslie.
"I am serious. And don't call me Shirley." Love you, Leslie Nielsen! One of the funniest men ever! God bless.
You spelled his last name wrong on the CNN home page. Nice going CNN.
Take it easy, it's CNN, not like they are doing this for money or something.
🙁 he was a great actor. Sry to see him go.
Him was a nice man
I still remember going to see 'The Naked Gun' with my parents in the theater when it came out. I still think it's one of the funniest movies I've ever seen, and I will never forget how hard my father was laughing. Laughter is the best medicine, and Leslie helped make a lot of folks feel better. RIP, Leslie!!
Oh my God, what a loss.
Leslie was a friend of the town of Guthrie, Ok. It reminded him of the old towns of Europe as many of the builders were immigrants who brought building styles from France, Italy, and Russia. Leslie also loved the local golf course Cedar Valley and his photo is featured on billboards. Leslie will be missed but he sure gave us good memories. So, Lt. Drebin, I say 10-7, 10-98, and 10-15 to that station in the sky....
RIP and thanks for all the laughs! "I want a world where Frank junior and all the Frank juniors can sit under a shady tree, breathe the air, swim in the ocean, and go into a 7-11 without an interpreter"
Ludwig: Cuban?
Drebin: No, Dutch-Irish. My father was from Wales.
Namaste, Mr Nielsen. Namaste.
Scotch-irish
