News outlets publish cables leaked by Wikileaks

Details of classified U.S. government documents leaked by whistleblower website WikiLeaks were published Sunday by four international news outlets.

No documents had been posted on WikiLeaks, which said via Twitter earlier Sunday that it was under cyber attack, when five newspapers - the New York Times, the Guardian in England, Le Monde in France, Der Spiegel in Germany and El Pais in Spain - put details from the leaked documents on their websites.

The United States had warned WikiLeaks editor-in-chief Julian Assange that publishing the papers would be illegal and endanger peoples' lives.

Earlier Sunday, Wikileaks tweeted that it was experiencing a distributed denial of service (DDOS) attack. That's an effort to make a website unavailable to users, normally by flooding it with requests for data.

@Patriotic couple....Finding out about your own war criminals does NOT make US look weak. If our government hadn't dropped it's long standing membership with the World Court just prior to invading Iraq, info just now coming to light, thanks to these leaks, would have been well known years ago. Other nation's war criminals face the Hague. Where do paid militia and US troops who commit war crimes go for justice? Anyone?

Would you trust someone if you told them a secret and it somehow got out? How inclined would you be to share something again? Common Sense should be applied here

So yes... if Wikileaks were sharing something like the US supporting child-trafficking – Hey I'm all for busting them out.

But this certainly wasn't some issue like that now was it? It makes us look weak as a country. There is nothing good hearted about Wikileaks with its whistle blowing this time. We should look at Wikileaks as a TRAITOR. A news source? C'mon now? If that were so then let's see some secret stuff from China Russia and all those other countries. But no- it's just the US. That's not news to me.

I politely disagree that Wikileaks has done some "good service" in their actions.

Goog posting, phil. To answer your question about our war criminals, nowhere tragically enough only to our own military tribunals where they generally receive a slap on the wrist! JFK once said that life is not fair and these guys are living proof of that!

What are any of you going to do about the corruption? You going to vote out one bad apple and elect another? You going to trust the courts? No. You're all just going to sit around and whine about it. If it's that evil and corrupt then due process will not work. If it's that evil and you do nothing then you are just as guilty because cowards let atrocity happen.

So it would be OK if wikileaks exposed foreigners who comitted war crimes, but it's not OK if the exposed war criminals work for the USA? Does your patriotism know no bounds?

"If the government is guilty of criminal acts is it not the duty of the people to restrain it and punish it as if it were a lawless individual? A body of powerful men sitting in government are no less guilty than a single man of crimes common to them both...but in the case of government the crime is greater and more heinous for it strikes down the walls of a city and lays it open to the enemy." –Cicero

Duke...I hear ya man. A recent survey showed that 60% of US truly believe God approves of our government. Many of US have confused love of God and country with love of government. It's like they're brainwashed. Almost impossible to reason with people who's minds are that far gone.

PEOPLE OF AMERICA..HEAR YE!!!! Don't you ever wonder where the millions or even billions of Dollars spent by politicians in the most recent election came from?

China is behind all of these, It's using Wikileaks and other websites to make you tear your own country apart then to the world. You have lots of China funded lawmakers occupying at (congressional seats) your own backyard. They are there to defend Asange and the entire wikileaks or any other China funded website designed to destroy the image of US government to its own countrymen and to the world. As you will see these lawmakers in congress will do everything in all their might power and strenght to oppose any action against asange and the entire wikileaks. The catch there is, they're occupying most of the congressional seats.

China thinks that it has defeated U.S. in terms of economy. And like the economic war, China knew that they could never win a military war against U.S. "FAIRLY AND SQUARELY" because of the latter's allies in UN. That's why they're now using the dirtiest tactics that they had in store. They're now using NK, if US will make a reckless move against NK in stepping on Korean Conflicts, China and its allies will condemn and charge US of war crimes as what their funded (wikileaks) site wanted to show to the public and to the world.

WW3 IS NEIGH. China, Iran, Afganistan, Pakistan and other invading countries are now making their moves AND THEY ARE WORKING OVERTIME.

what the hundred radicals over there is justification for the deaths of any one innocent civilian? we shouldn't be in that country to begin with. trying to teach democracy to people that don't understand the concept is a joke. we don't even have democracy here lol. this is a republic of hypocracy. bunch of elected overly paid f-in idiots. people here have no idea if they think this is how a democratic society is supposed to work. dysfunctional representation of the way it isn't supposed to work. founding fathers would be disgraced with how this country runs itself.
