Chuck Norris to become honorary Texas Ranger
He played one on TV, and now actor Chuck Norris is going to become an honorary Texas Ranger on Thursday.
Texas Gov. Rick Perry will present commemorative certificates to Norris and his brother, Aaron Norris, for their work on the series, "Walker, Texas Ranger," which aired from 1993 to 2001.
The famed actor and martial arts expert played the title role of Cordell Walker, a no-nonsense Texas Ranger with an unorthodox approach to law enforcement.
Norris and his brother, Aaron, were the executive producers of the show, which was filmed in Texas and used real Texas Rangers in an advisory role, Department of Public Safety spokeswoman Tela Mange said.
The Texas Public Safey Commission, which oversees DPS, voted in October to bestow the designation upon the Norris brothers, "to say thank you for bringing honor to the department," Mange said.
"The show reflected well on law enforcement in general, and on the DPS in particular," the commission said in a press release in October.
The Texas Rangers typically take the lead in major crime investigations, unsolved crimes, public corruption investigations, shootings involving officers and border security operations, according to the department's website. They were formed in the 1820s under Stephen F. Austin, the "Father of Texas," to protect settlers.

His acting stunk
i am not sure where all this Texas hate is directed. i will admit there are some idiots here but show me a state that doesnt. ditto with laws etc. i would rather live here than in the north or west coast although alot of local charm is now lost to the big boxes and the leftist metro yuppies. i yield the floor.
Texas has never accepted goverment/federal assistances and must secede from the US. We, Texan, can stand on our own two feet. But I stll think Chuck's acting stunk.

Norris is a fool. And so by extension are the TX rangers for making him am honorary member. This further solidifies my opinion of TX and all therein. Idiots, not Americans, and certainly not patriots. Let the cesspool of a state secede.
Waste of time. Chuck Norris is a momma's boy glorified by hollywood. Martial Arts is as choreographed as dancing.
If you truly want to see deadly as deadly does, check out the "Army" Rangers. We don't need no stinking badges. We'll make fish-n-chips outta your party for real. No hollywood bull****.

I'll put my SEAL brother-in-law against your glorified-Boy Scout "Army" Rangers any day. I've seen the difference first hand in the big sandbox, and the Rangers whined about everything while SEALS got the job done. Pretty bad when Navy beats Army ON LAND!

Looks like the 4Chan trolls have a personal grudge against Chuck and the state of Texas. Guess when you sit in your mother's basement all day railing against DA MAN holding you down, you have to pick your daily target. You can rant about Norris' politics all you want, but doesn't mean you're anything less than spiteful and jealous little mamma's boys with no connection to the real world. Now...take a roundhouse kick to the head and settle down.
