Gotta Watch: Maher's musings, dump truck chase, train track save

Glenn Beck like L. Ron Hubbard - Bill Maher’s appearance on Sunday’s “Fareed Zakaria GPS” is getting a lot of attention online today. The host of “Real Time with Bill Maher” was asked how much he thinks the Tea Party is about religion.  Maher focused on FOX News’ Glenn Beck, saying, “I think he’s doing what some people before him have done, like L. Ron Hubbard, who is a novelist, and decided, ‘You know what? It’s a much easier gig to be a religious leader.’ ”

And Obama more Wayne Brady than Suge Knight - Maher also looked back on President Obama’s first two years, surprised that he’s more Wayne Brady than Suge Knight.

Teen dump truck heist -You may be asking yourself, who would want to steal a dump truck? The answer: one reckless teenager.  This harrowing police video shows the young driver as he rear-ends the police car and speeds away. Officials say his wild ride went on for more than fifty miles.

Close-call train rescue – This heart-stopping video from Spain shows a man as he topples over into subway tracks. Lucky for him, an off-duty police officer jumps in to save him just as a train arrives.

      I do not know who Maher is paying at CNN to be on so much. It is the same thing everytime he is on. Bash Beck, FOX, the Republicans and TEA Party, ........ We get it. You are a Democrat. Claims there are racists in the Tea Party? Are there not any in the Democratic Party? Have you ever heard of Jesse Jackson? I believe he had a little run in with the Jews several years back when running for president. Bashed New Your City even.

    The 17 year old criminal who stole a dump truck and showed reckless disregard for other peoples lives is described as "gutsy"? That the adjective you'd use if it was you being run over? You really think no one was seriously injured or killed because he was being careful? This is a clear case of the media egging on this type of behavior!

      It's really too bad the police didn't pull up next to the dump truck and unload a handgun into the driver's side window. I really want them to do that. I guarantee it would cut down on these chases if they faced death... the cops are allowed to, expected to unload into someone threatening human life with a gun or knife– why not with a vehicle!?

ALL Libertarians consider themselves independent from both parties. Maher thinks independents are fickle. Libertarians are upset with the nature of politics and bureaucracy as a whole. Maher just hates conservatives, but believes in anything a Democrat does.

      I may not agree with everything Bill Maher says, BUT he is SPOT ON with his comments about Beck and the Tea Party. When history writes the story, Beck will be outed as the lunatic he is and sadly, many people who thought grabbing on to the Tea Party mantra will realize they shot themselves in the foot by focusing on anger instead of facts. After llistening to Beck for awhile you may get lulled in as if the guy was valiently there to protect his listeners, but then the THINKING part of your brain kicks in and you check his "facts" and they are nothing but his ego rantings, NOT facts at all. And Tea Party, please be careful, many of you mean well but you could insight an undereducated crazy woman named Sarah to creep in, and then God help us all. It would be really funny if it were not so SCARY. I really wish people would READ and LISTEN and FACT CHECK before they go with the mob mentality, and Glen Beck is counting on his audience not checking out his facts. I guess he figures if he speaks softly, or rants on and on, people will forget that he is just a millionaire guy with a pulpit who is out to take care of himself and his puffed up ego.

      Matt, your comment is an expression of a certain brand of idiocy so prevalent in the political right-wing today. Liberals don't think any of our politicians or commentators are deities. We just like our guys more than your guys, the same way you like your guys more than our guys. You don't think you guys look like brainwashed sycophants at your Glenn Beck rallies and anything related to Reagan? What about the Tea Party's fascination with stupidity and bigotry? Do you think we believe you worship stupidity and bigotry? No, for whatever reason you just like those qualities in your political leaders and pundits. We don't think you follow them like gods, so there is no reason to believe that we do either. Then again, we weren't stupid enough to vote for George W. Bush twice and then vote for the McCain/Palin ticket.

      Maher vehemence against religion shows an intolerance he cannot accept from others. He is a hypocrite and cited absolutely NO facts , just opinions in this space. I will stand up for Glenn Beck any day. You people who would never pay reverence or homage to a Creator or Savior jump at the chance to do the same with whatever flavor of the month it is. Obama, Maher, Bono, Gore, the governemnt, whomever, are just men and women and will utlimitely disappoint you. We who belive in something bigger than ourselves carry no such illusion. It is far easier for me to believe that someone paid the penalty fo my sin out of love than Maher having an inkling of true understanding about anything.

      @Matt. Why are people who disagree with you idiots?

      @Mark B
      Maher is actually a very intelligent person. He honestly believes that most of the time, religion causes more harm than good. That does not make him an idiot. I do not agree with him 100% of the time, but I do think he's a pretty interesting and intelligent person. You bring up that you would stand up for Glenn Beck at any time. Really? Regardless of what he said or did? Do your own thoughts just happen to completely coincide with his or do you get your thoughts from him?

      Regarding the "worship" of Obama, Maher, etc., do you honestly think that we worship these people? Having hope or pride in someone for doing something good is one thing. Why sensationalize that to try to insult people? If you like Sarah Palin, Bill O'Reilly, whoever, we don't say you deify them. You, hopefully, don't necessarily agree with their every word or action. Neither do we. We can have some common beliefs with these people or hope that they will make a positive change in the world, but we don't look up to them as a prophet or someone who can do or say or think no wrong. All of us have to be critical thinkers and form our own opinions based on actual facts, not on what our favorite news programs or anchors are saying. Think for yourself and trust only facts. That's the best advice I can give you.

      Maher is an admitted libertarian in the classic sense which means he may have some liberal views and some moderate views and some conservative views. Unlike the Tea Party which deals only in absolutes (our way or no way). I like Maher because when he's wrong he admits it and moves on unlike Beck who thinks he's a movement (O'Reilly has admitted to being wrong but only when called out on it by the public en masse). Just check out O'Reilly in his discussions on such facts as evolution or climate change and Beck on the same.

They check the facts as I taught them, before they take any of the three I referenced in my above post for facts. These three use sound bits and closed minded views of the news. I have been a Democrat, I have been a Republican, but today I am very independent, middle of the road person whom does not vote straight party line. That is the problem with the right and the left political powers to be, they both use the same tactic of sound bits and repeat over and over until the internet pundits have it drilled into their little brains and repeat it back as fact. Also I prefer experienced than being call old. Hopefully you will grow up and not have so much built up anger and hate. Have a nice day.
