10:00 am ET - Porteous impeachment trial - The Senate takes a brief respite from tax cuts and the deficit to consider four articles of impeachment against federal Judge G. Thomas Porteous.   The judge, who is accused of corruption, faces being removed from the bench if convicted in the Senate.

12:45 pm ET - White House briefing - White House Press Secretary Robert Gibbs should expect a busy briefing this afternoon.  Topics expected to be brought up include Julian Assange's arrest, President Obama's tax cut deal, the Korea crisis and the impending leadership change on Capitol Hill.

4:00 pm ET - Broadway on Wall Street - The lullaby of Broadway comes to Wall Street, as the cast of the new musical "ELF" pay a visit to ring the closing bell.  The cast will also celebrate the lighting of the NYSE Christmas tree.

5:00 pm ET - Capitol Christmas Tree lighting - Speaking of Christmas trees, House Speaker Nancy Pelosi will light this year's Capitol Christmas Tree in Washington.  This year's tree is a 67-foot Engelmann spruce from Wyoming.
