Metrodome roof collapses; NFL game moved

[12:18 p.m. ET] The New York Giants-Minnesota Vikings game will take place Monday at 7:20 p.m. at Ford Field in Detroit, Michigan, the NFL said in a statement Sunday. The game was moved after the roof of the Vikings' Metrodome in Minneapolis collapsed due to heavy snow.

[11 a.m. ET] The game between the Minnesota Vikings and the New York Giants will not be played at the Metrodome on Monday or Tuesday because of the roof collapse caused by heavy snow, the NFL announced Sunday.

The league is exploring the possibility of playing Monday night at the University of Minnesota's TCF Bank Stadium or another domed NFL stadium, according to a statement from Greg Aiello of the NFL.

[Original post] Heavy snow has caused the roof of the Metrodome in Minneapolis, Minnesota, to collapse, a spokesman for the Minnesota State Patrol said Sunday.

A blizzard that hit the Midwest prompted officials Saturday night - before the roof collapsed - to postpone Sunday's scheduled NFL game between the Minnesota Vikings and New York Giants. A statement from the Vikings cited "unsafe conditions related to the Metrodome roof and the weather."

The game was rescheduled from Sunday afternoon to Monday night, the team said.

The Giants were stranded at Kansas City International Airport on
Saturday, unable to get to Minnesota because of the snow, said team spokesman Peter John-Baptiste.

I think that Bret caused it to give himself more time to heal so his streak won't be broken. There is nothing else important to him – the team winning or self respect. Bret has to have his record continue.

Play at TCF if it isn't up by Monday? Or just take a utility knife around the top and all of the sudden, an outdoor stadium, day games only please.

What most people here dont understand is that the Metrodome roof is mostly just a tarp that is kept in place by high air pressure inside- I can totally see how it would collapse under heavy snow. If it doesnt tear under the weight, when the snow melts it will just pop into place again.

Global warming is a scam and God is exposing Al Gore and all the America haters.
Now they want to change the name to "Climate disruption." Now they can blame every storm on Carbon.
The following is not a blanket statement but this is the trend I see.
The people who love "Global warming" are the democrats, the USA haters and others who want to see the demise of the USA, the liberals, the Godless, the darwinians, the atheists, the Christian haters, the third world countries, Al Gore and other politicians and businessmen who are profiting off this scam from Government grants, universities who are applying for these government $$$ grants, and others.
Look at Al Gore's life style and you can see what his agenda is. Follow the money trail. Al Gore uses more energy than 500 average americans.
Copenhagen saw cold temperatures and snow during last years "Global Warming Summit." This year Cancun is seeing record 100 year cold records during the Global Warming Summit. God is laughing at the "Global Warming" manipulators.

Yeah right! I'm a Christian. I've read the Bible and I didn't see about global warming being a sin or a sham. You are projecting your ideas into His word. That's a bigger sin.

Less precipitation in summer and more in winter is actually a prediction of global warming for the northern states. Not that we should base our understanding on individual events...

Then how do you explain the record amount of rainfall Minnesota had this summer?

I understand that they didn't heat the inside until sometime late yesterday. Had they started when the snow as first predicted (Wednesday) that might have avoided the collapse, since heat rises and could have helped to melt the snow. Heat still does rise, doesn't it?

Wow! Those Minnesotans are tough. A collapsed dome and they are only delaying the game 24 hours. Whether or not the Giants make it I'm sure.

A press conference on the 50 yard line with Nancy and Al Franken should provide enough hot air to raise the roof at the Jiffy Pop Dome
