Holiday shoppers gobble bargains, give retail sales a boost

Retail sales were solidly higher in November, the government reported Tuesday, fueled in part by deep discounting on holiday merchandise.

The Commerce Department said total retail sales rose 0.8% last month.

Economists surveyed by Briefing.com on average had forecast an increase of 0.5% for November, compared to a revised 1.7% jump in sales the prior month. October sales were originally reported to have increased 1.2%.

I don't understand this shopping frenzy. Does it come as a surprise that there is Christmas? Or can't you give presents to people whom you love during the year? I guess most presents are just given out of a guilt complex for Christmas: http://andreasmoser.wordpress.com/2010/12/13/why-i-hate-christmas/

were here for you, not special interest, they get us elected, but were working for your future, cant you tell, we spent your money bailing out banks that wont bail you out. Send your jobs overseas or to mexico, using your money, push health care reform, requiring all to carry insurance, a deal literally written by the insurance companys lobbyist billy tuares( former legislater), tax breaks for the rich, which has been widely accepted as non job creating, yet thats the reasoning behind it (rep.) all the while smiling to you while they tell you lies they know you dont believe! We are screwed, bad, until greed is controlled, its all bad

I can still remember when the gov. broke up ma-bell. I wonder if it was as big as this 1% that they say pays the majority of the taxes in this country? If so why aren't they breaking up their monopoly over the country too? If small business creates the bulk of the jobs in America break'em up and open the door for people to create the jobs.
