Virginia AG on health care: 'What we need is more citizen control'

A federal judge on Monday upheld a constitutional challenge to the health care law brought by Virginia Attorney General Ken Cuccinelli. U.S. District Judge Henry Hudson ruled Congress had placed an unconstitutional requirement on Americans to get health insurance. Cuccinelli cites the health care law as an extension of unwarranted government control and maintains this choice should be left up to citizens.

This strikes a serious legal blow to the law thus far and moves the case toward an expected battle in the U.S. Supreme Court, perhaps in 2012. Republicans using the ruling as a victory to set in motion steps to repealing the reform once they have a House majority in January. Virginia Attorney General Ken Cuccinelli spoke to CNN's John Roberts about the case.

    Okay maybe there is poo everywhere. but as i see it we voted for mr obama and made history in doing so. now that the party is over and the time to live by our decisions has come everyone got scared. did you think a democratic white house was a magic pill its not. anyone who's been in debt from loss of a job knows a new job doesnt instantly irradicate all old debt and often more than not creates new debt. making the tightrope walk balk to stability treacherous for some undetermined amount of time. we voted with our hearts on this one all in chaos and i feel pretty lonely at the polls since our historic yes we can we gone to well maybe not, just let it go and hope the republicans will suddenly do what they have NEVER EVER DONE work for the majority of americans who are'nt the priveledged rich crybabies wahwah i'm too rich to pay taxes. you dems better get your loyalty for your party back. I will not vote for a republican i don't care what they say they are rhetoric and propaganda and nothing more.

    I will like to see congress vote to abolish their healthcare!! Not!!. They have the same healthcare, federal workers have. Are The teabaggers going to tell congress to get rid of their healthcare.

    dems are different in that respect how? Politics are not for the common man, we need a new party, the ones we have currently are not afraid of voters. My problem with obama is he lied to us about the cost of obama care, if you remember, after he did not pass the bill before congressional break, when they came back he didnt care what was in the bill, only that he pass a bill like he said he would, the fact that his own party really didnt like the revised bill says it all, the first bad bill was better than the next, he was schooled in that deal, but instead of backing off and trying a jew approach he gave the insurance companies a dream bill

    I will like to see Congress vote to abolish their healthcare!! NO WAY. Their healthcare is the same as federal workers. Do the teabaggers know that congress and federal workers get socialized medical insurance?

    I posted this yesterday but in case some didnt see it,would like to post it again: Our local Hospital built a new,and great,Maternity floor 2 yrs ago. Now,2 months ago,they CLOSED it up entirely.They dropped THEIR insurance coverage for delivering babies,and now you CANNOT deliver a baby there~NOT EVEN IN THE EMG.ROOM!They even took all incubators out!~WHY?~BECAUSE THEY SAID OVER 80%OF WOMEN COMING THERE TO HAVE BABIES NOW,HAVE NO INSURANCE!~THIS is 1 way Hospitals CAN begin to refuse service that they can no longer afford to give to uninsured people. But of course,INSURED people ALSO NOW HAVE NO PLACE NEAR TO HAVE A BABY! We have NO other hospital near here either.!

    I read today that,one possibility to be considered is: if adults do NOT want the New Health Care and do not want to buy even minimum insurance,then they may consider to do same as they ALREADY do with Medicare~that is ~if you do not sign up,then you would sign a waiver saying you dont want insurance at this time. HOWEVER~AS WITH MEDICARE,THERE WOULD BE A CATCH TO THAT!~it would then be very difficult to get back IN the insurance system AND you would then pay a higher premium for life! THAT IS HOW MEDICARE IS NOW~FOR EVERY YEAR YOU DO NOT SIGN UP AFTER YOU ARE ELIGIBLE[unless you hv OTHER health ins.]THEN YOU PAY A SORT OF "fine" for each year,whIch is NOW ADDED TO YOUR MEDICARE PAYMENT FOR THE REST OF YOUR LIFE~HAVENT SEEN ANY PROTESTS ABOUT THAT~AND ITS BEEN THAT WAY QUITE AWHILE!

    @#33~You are very right~thank you.~we have a President that DOES CARE ABOUT US!~if anyone thinks that Repubs an TeaParty will look out for us,then I got that famous Bridge I will sell You!~~And,being very serious now,I can already see what is going to happen if people keep this up about Health Care[there is just the whispers of it now,but the idea IS picking up around the country]~that sooner than you will believe possible~Hospitals WILL STOP TAKING CARE OF ANYONE WHO HAS NO INS,MEDICARE,or SOME WAY TO PAY! That HAS to be next if millions of people are going to refuse to carry insurance~and if we let the Health Care Bill go on AND are reasonable,and accept govt.help to buy ins,if you cannot afford it~everything WILL WORK AND NEARLY EVERYONE WILL HAVE SOME TYPE OF INS WITHIN 2~3 years AND ALL WILL THEN BE ASSURED OF CARE.~SURELY NO ONE WANTS ANYBODY,much less a Child,to die because they no longer have access to even Emg room care!~Stop listening to fear~mongers and get on with protecting yourself AND your loved ones~so they will have CARE WHEN SICK OR HURT!~Which happens to EVERYBODY SOONER OR LATER FOR SURE!

    I agree. We should assess an additional 2 percent tax for every 10 pounds a person is overweight. There should be scales at every fast food joints so they have to pay at the registers upon ordering. Sorry to my fat friends, but you are fat so deal with it.
