South Korean military exercise risks reaction from North Korea, general says

The coming South Korean military exercise risks a reaction from North Korea that would escalate out of control, a top general at the Pentagon said Thursday.

South Korea has publicized its intentions for the exercise on the same island that was shelled by North Korea last month in order to avoid misunderstanding, Gen. James Cartwright, Vice Chairman of the Joint Chiefs of Staff, said.

Still, he said, there is the potential for North Korea to react.

"If North Korea were to react to that in a negative way and fire back at them, those firing positions on the islands, that would start potentially a chain reaction of firing and counter firing," Cartwright told reporters at the Pentagon.

    Dear Pentagon,
What insight by the General,I could have told the world that a chain reaction fire fight could occur and I never made it past LT. when I served.

why do the south keep tryin to start something. you know they feel that is very provacative then why do it? they are telling everyone stop trying to bully them into doing something they don't want to do and still everyone is just asking for a retaliation. yet they are irrational.

I think you're right, but they remember that North Korea invaded them 6/25/1950 as a result of idealogical differences alone. They're worried and believe the posturing and training may dissuade North Korea from doing it again.

It's all about swordfighting and sausages. Football and Sky People. A thousand years from now the same stuff will be happening on this planet. I pray God is watching all this.

We need to bomb them. We have bombs that we could bomb them with right now. A lot of people don't know how many bombs we have but we have enough to bomb them and have enough leftover to bomb them again. If we bomb them now we could move on and bomb somebody else sooner too. So we should start bombing them with bombs.

Don't worry Texan, I am sure that the current covey of American fools that just landed in North Korea, will come up with another great theory on why these fpoor folks are misunderstood and how we can reason with them. Maybe they can even talk the North Koreans into signing another meaningless agreement. Of course that agereement will also need to be paid for with additional money and food for this pathetic country thst can't feed itself but but can produce weapons to kill innocent civilians and constantly threaten their neighbors. Bullies don't respect weakness. They take advantage of it. They always demand more.

It's a matter of balls.. We should send every ship we have and are allies have to the north Korean coast.. Give them a simple option. Coroperate or be destroyed. Kim talks alot, but would never want to see his failing empire wiped out completely. I think he's a radical nut. But not that stupid enough to fight half of the worlds military..

"Hypersonic Weight Loss" taught me how to creatively express that which only a woman can do and feel. I did this for me. My goal was to get shaped, toned and lose weight.

My feelings are live and let live, an eye for an eye, tooth for a tooth.. But sometimes you have to stand up and fight in order to let someone know that you can be pushed only so far, if the N Koren's push again then FIGHT TO THE LAST MAN STANDING!! He that stands last takes all. *. Wayne. *
