Hundreds of Marines, soldiers set to come home

About 2,000 Marines and sailors will return home Friday to Camp Pendleton in California after being deployed seven months overseas.

During their deployment, the group helped deliver aid to victims of the massive floods in Pakistan and helped to fight pirates in waters near Somalia.

"From humanitarian assistance operations in Pakistan to anti-piracy operations in the Gulf of Aden; our Marines and sailors executed every mission with skill and professionalism," said Col. Roy Osborn.

The Marines and sailors will be greeted with a big celebration at the southern California base, Osborn said.

Providing aids to floods victims and fighting piracy were just a warm up. After the holidays, let's send them to Afghan to pummel Al Qaeda & the Taliban militants – the 9/11 perpetrators and seeds of future terrorist activities.

We'll break their back, tatter their will, crush them into submission. Just watch!

Most of these Marines will be glad to see DADT repealed! It was such a BS, discriminatory practice and a waste of tax dollars. http://bit.ly/GOPrThugs

YBS...you are an Idiot. I'd say about 99% of us want it to stay as is...it isn't 'progress' to repeal it.

Captain, what would be progress would be that you stop beating off! πŸ™‚

Now, leave the military if you don't like the DADT repeal. Stop leeching on our tax dollars & pontificating about your fakking moral values. Don't be full of yourself - we don't need 'your' service.

ybs. Marines hate gay men. In a combat zone, Marines sooner see a gay man killed as fast as possible so they don't have worry about the gay man getting others killed.

Bring them all home and decrease the Military War Machine to %10 of GNP so money can be spent on America and its people instead of killing innocent people in the name of Politics. WOW an entire 2000 troops out of 80trillion what a F______g joke.

80 trillion soldiers? Even for added effect thats ridiculous. The size of the US military is extremely small when looking at total population. .006 percent of the population would be more accurate, with just at 2 million servicemen b/w all branches active and reserve. You also realize the money spent on militaries dont just disappear into thin air. They go to contractors, manufacturers, etc which in many areas of the country are the largest employers. Also without political (read military) stability in a global market there are significant issues economics. Now I would like to see soldiers come home and our use of servicemen more heavily scrutinized, but the notion that the military's personel numbers are huge is just plain wrong. A lot of money is wasted by the US military, but that is b/c it is ran by Congress and nothing ran by congress is efficient (see medicare, medicaid, social security, postal service, IRS, or DMV for further proof). If you have issue with the debt crisis, turn to your elected official (which I am already certain of the letter that follows his name) and ask why social security was ever allowed to be borrowed against, why medicare and medicaid continue to cut reimbursements and yet expect magically for more people to take it.

Great story, but why is the picture showing a soldier from the 4th Infantry division when they are talking about Marines? Need to find a Marine picture.
