Oil pipeline blast kills 27 in Mexico

[Updated at 10:51 p.m.] The death toll in Sunday morning's oil pipeline explosion in central Mexico has risen to 27, a state-run Mexican news agency said.

[Initial post] At least 14 people were killed and 33 injured after an oil pipeline exploded Sunday morning in central Mexico, officials said.

The cause of the explosion in San Martin Texmelucan, in Puebla state, was under investigation, but preliminary reports pointed to the illegal extraction of oil from the pipe, said Laura Gursa, coordinator for civil protection in Puebla.

todays exchange rate is us dollar 1 = Mexican Peso 12.4273

so 3 trailer park deaths in us = 37.2819 mexican deaths

so since only 14 mexicans died this story is less than half as tragic.

@Cesar...I lived near LA for many years. Redondo Beach and then Newport Beah. And I did find myself and pregnant wife in south-central LA one night. We were trying to find this building Howard Hugh's had designed. (he used leftover wire from the spruce goose to suspend the false cieling so that it would sway rather than crack during an earthquake) I stopped at a gas station to ask directions and was approached by a gangsta who had one hand in his jacket. I was prepared to give him whatever he wanted (besides my wife. he would have had to kill me to get to her) and then he just turned and walked away. I don't know why he didn't rob us, but I never went anywhere near there ever again.

Ha ha...I made Howard Hughs plural. Maybe there's more than one of him.
