Singer Teena Marie dead at 54

Teena Marie, an award-winning singer-songwriter known for her R&B
performances, has died, her manager said Sunday. The performer was 54.

Marie was found dead by her daughter after apparently dying in her sleep,
manager Mike Gardner said.

    OMG...I just read this! I am so saddened by this! I am such a Teena Marie fan, I have some of her music and play often...such a sad day! I pray that her daughter and the rest of her family is okay and knows that God has got their back!!!

    Teena Marie Dies at age 54 today, I am bottom of my heart and wonderful spirit . But I like her videos very much , I'm African-Native American , misses her so much and rest in peace!

    I can remember as a child our late car rides listening to Teena Marie. She was such a talented artist. Whether it was listening to "ooh la la" or "out on a limb" I never get tired of hearing her music"

    My heart is broken. I am soo sad. I'm in shock. It's too surreal. I want to scream. I don't know what to do. She is my idol. I've been listening to her for over thirty years. Her lyrics and poetry have gotten me through soooo. No one else compares. She was a musical dream "the soul soprano" with no equal. She was a gift and I am grateful to have witnessed her journey. And, now heaven truly rocks.

    I called my cousin to ask her if she had heard of Teena Marie's passing. When I told her, she started crying. We grew up listening to her music. It's like somebody telling us a close friend died. Teena Marie could sing better than any of these "new" female artists. Not just her voice, but her passion and soul for the songs she performed. Gone way too soon for us, but God has a plan.

    WOW just found out cant beleve it. A TRUE DIVA I will miss your music. REST IN PEACE. Another wonderfull person gone. God has one wonderfull ANGEL next to him.     What a soulful woman! She truly sang from her soul. Now she is resting in peace with no more pain. May we see her again if she is in Jah's memory. May her family have comfort in knowing that they can see her again. Please read Revelation Chapter 21 verses 3 and 4.

    You will truly be missed luv.your music will live on forever. I remember listening to it at cookouts, clubs and I drive to it on the road. Til this day. Our parents would play your music. God bless you and your family. Stay stronge and together.

    James, who had a romantic relationship with Marie but also a long friendship, died in 2004. His death shook her so she said she became addicted to Vicodin, which she had been taking for pain, for about a year..

    Its obvious it wasnt natural causes, of course they say that, all her drug addiction has finally caught up with her, i hate when people dont blame they have been doing even though they been clean for a long time, your never clean of the drug usage youve been doing in the past, its creeps on you when you least expected, i hope leave a lesson to those who think smoking when young or drinking til plaster wont catch up to them, oh baby, it will and it will come down on you HARD!

    When James Brown died it was christmas day also Eartha Kitt, Reggie White died the day after Christmas and now Teena Marie. RIP I don't care if you was purple,green yellow you was one of the greatest singers ever in the same class as Mariah, Chaka, Aretha, Nancy Wilson, Leena Horne, Patti La Belle and Diana Ross. Your songs and the songs you made with Rick James and Ozone will live on for ever.
