She had a coupla serious accidents during the time of Hurricane Katrina-a picture in a hotel fell and hit her in the head......and she is only five feet tall, who knows this could have been the beginning of seizures? If he picture was heavy enough it could have done some damage...

Also a refrigerator fell on her that same year............about 500 lbs............I am pretty sure this affected her body.........

Teena Marie along with The Doobie Brothers, Michael McDonald and The Tom Tom Club were just a few of the white artists who were influenced by black music. They all put their mark on the music and we loved them for it. A true LOVER OF MUSIC knows what Teena means to R & B. She was one of the best ever and will be missed.

The entire genre of rock music would not even exist without copious borrowing (and *cough* stealing *cough*) from African-American musicians. But I think what you are saying, in the artists that you referenced, the borrowing was more upfront and collegial in nature.

They say to be absent from the body, is to be present with the LORD. Teena is in a better place.I'm chagrined by the negative comments that some people are making, at a time like this.Their negative comments are an inner reflection of who they really are. Teena Marie will be truely missed by her Family,Friends, and Fans. May God be with her family during this very difficult time. Rest In Peace Teena.

I was on my way to work this morning and the first thing that I heard on the TJMS was that we lost a legend Teena Marie. A single tear fell from my eye as I remembered her in concert with Rick James back in the 70's. She will truly be missed and was loved by us all. I am also saddened to hear that her only child found her dead. There is peace and reassurance in knowing that she is with our Lord and Saviour Jesus Christ! Your memory will truly live on as with the other greats who have gone before you.

This truly is a tragic moment to lose one of the hottest R & B ladies of all time. Pray for the family and may Teena rest in peace and sing amongst the angels in Heaven.
