Yes, she will truly be missed. She was a one of the many pioneers of great R&B music and I wish her family continued blessings.

I am very heart broken that I did not see or hear more coverage regarding her death, I heard an announcement on regular television and that was it. I did not hear anything about it on TMZ, The Insider, Entertainer Tonight, etc.

Not quite. It's Teena Marie . . . proper names use capital letters in the English language.

Also, the contraction of "it is" requires an apostrophe, as in "it's Teena Marie."

Is this really the time or place for the grammer police? Gosh can't we just speak on the great loss we have just suffered? Her music will live on in us forever. She was a tremendous talent and we are losing these people everyday and left with the catasthrophe that is today's so called music.

      Latif,

You mentioned some great artist here. Teena and Rick were in Baton Rouge, it was 1979, the concert was outside. The weather was great and the music was on point. Teena made her grand entrance, you know–Fire and Desire. Today, New Orleans radio station WYLD, played one of her hits-a creative guitar player she was. 🙂

Teena was amazing...she also wrote and arranged her music (at a time when very few women did)...she was true to what was in her heart...not everybody feels or sounds like their DNA...always though it was cool that she mentioned poet Nikki Giovanni...and she didn't need auto-tune!!

First of all, if you don't know who Teena Marie is, then get off the friggen page! Second of all, I agree with the one poster who apologized for all of the losers on here, who feel like they have to bash others...no matter what race they are. Third of all...to you idiots: RESPECT THE DEAD!! I remember her song "Lovergirl" and just heard it a few days ago on the 80s Channel on MusicChoice. She will be missed by her friends, family and fans. May you sleep well Teena and jam out with Rick and Michael. RIP ðŸ™
