  1. Critical thinker

    Mr. Gardener,
As a journalist why don't you do a little more critical evaluation of the statements rather than just reporting what has been said. A little effort on your part would possibly help others avoid a similar fate. Aa has already been stated by some posters carbon monoxide is odorless which is why it is so dangerous. If there was a car running nearby and the exhaust was accidentally or intentionally drawn into the room then there would have been an exhaust smell. Depending on the age of the car and the presence or absence of a catylitic converter the exhaust may not have had sufficient CO in it to cause any adverse health effects. By not actually investigating and simply repeating what was stated you have done a dis-service to the public and your profession. Please try harder next time.

This is the kind of motel that people live in, by the week. That engine running could have been for any number of reasons. Clearing out the soot and residue lodged in the carburetor in order to get an old car ready to pass inspection would be a good reason.

      Carbon Dioxide (CO2)= 44 mw

      Oxygen (O2)= 32

      Nitrogen (N2) = 28.014 mw

Carbon Monoxide (CO) = CO = 28.01 mw.

  10. thanks

Though the story is heart breaking, the comments that followed are extremely hilarious. I can't wait for the reply from someone stating I'm a racist biggot who can't spell and lack proper grammar, and that I'm some heartless fool. Or that maybe I work for cnn and I'm behind this conspiracy since the story lacks detail. Please, make me laugh more. I'm loving all of you.

The death of the five male teens is truly a neglect. Hotels like homes, should now plug in a smoke and carbon monoxide detectors to avoid this kind of accidental death. Hotels and motels should round up at night using security measures inspecting the hallways and surroundings to identify possible accidents or other strange factors especially at night. This accident is preventable unless it was a suicide.

Hotels or motels should make sure how many people sleep in one room!

Yep just read the FULL article from a real journal.
    – Sorry people this is most certainly a cut & dry case of Darwin's Natural Selection. Not one of the five teens was smart enough to: • NOT leave the car running • Close the door • Smell the exhaust entering the room • Open a window and so on and so on... The relatives & friends interviewed sound just as ignorant.

When people expose their obvious misanthropy like the above, it also indicates that they're channeling their repressed self-loathing into their hatred of humanity.

...The End of Time...A short time ago..our Pastor's eldest son..about 30 years old and very close to his dad..was driving on the freeway..carrying out a task for his dad..he had asked Jesus to forgive his sins and accepted Christ's free gift of eternal life..years before.......The son was driving at about 60mph..in the slow lane..he looked down ..possibly to check his cell or pick up a bottle of water or tune radio...When he looked up..his car was about 2 seconds from a 50 ton paving machine..stopped in the lane......2 seconds later the son was standing before Jesus Christ in Heaven...with love and beauty beyond our imagination......... If he son had not accepted Christ...... 2 seconds later he would have been plunging through Outer Darkness...so dark it is felt ...screaming in agony and pain from the heat and knowledge that this was his new life...forever and ever ..no possible way of ever ending.........It's estimated that 100 Billion humans have lived since creation......For most of them..from conception..children..teens..young people..middle age and elderly....The End of The World has Already come..we dangle on a very thin string..with death constantly grabbing at us......Our Only Hope is Jesus Christ... with Life Forever in His Paradise that will Never end.
