Police: Texas bank standoff over, hostages safe
A hostage situation at a Texas bank ended Friday afternoon with all hostages safe and suspects in custody, said Lt. Onesimo Lopez of the Pearland Police Department.
Lopez said that two armed men had taken an undisclosed number of employees and customers hostage during the bank robbery Friday morning in suburban Houston.
The first suspect was taken into custody in the early stages of the robbery when there was an exchange of gunfire, detectives told CNN affiliate KPRC. The second suspect was taken into custody at the end of the standoff,
police said.

Why is it that bank robberies never take place at night? You know, when you only have the security system to contend with? I know it takes a small bit of brain, but it's better than your chances in an open bank full of customers with cell phones...

Because Nick most banks have timers on vaults which delay entry into them till the next morning. Thus most attempeted robberys happen early in the morning when the bank is first opening...Also because that is when the bank has the most money on hand.

Also to be technical, a robbery implies you are stealing from someone. If no one was there, it would be a burglary.
Banks are much harder to rob at night. Immediately after breaking in, the police are alerted as the security system goes off. You then only have a short amount of time to crack the vaults open. By the time you do all this you'll be arrested! LoL. Much better to do while the bank is open, so you can just have a teller open the vaults.
All the ones at night are getting away with it.

I'm guessing the robbers Real-Estate Taxes were due, seeing that it is December 31st, and to keep from paying the 4% interest charge on balance due, they had to make sure it was postmarked today. 🙂 IMO!
