Accused shooter's poems evoke his daily routine, scenes from Mauritius

Jared Lee Loughner, the man accused of shooting 20 people Saturday at an Arizona political event, attended a poetry class last year at Pima County Community College, a man in the class said.

Student Don Coorough provided CNN's Special Investigations Unit with copies of two poems purportedly written by Loughner for the spring semester class. They have been transcribed below with the same spelling and line breaks as the original copies.

Meat Head

Awaking on the first day of school
Pain of a morning hang over
Attending a weight lifting class for college credit
Attempting to exercise since freshman year of high school
Crawling out of bed and walking to the shower
Warm water hitting my back

Thoughts of being promiscuous with a female again
Putting on a old medium red tee shirt, light brown cameo shorts, and black Adidas
For breakfast a glass of water, cold pepperoni pizza, and two Advil
Bringing my Nano Ipod with heavy metal music
Taking the local bus on a overcast morning
Waiting with crack heads after their nightly binge
Bus is cheap, two dollars for a ride anywhere in the city
Sitting in back against a hard plastic seat
Staring at stop lights, brand new cars, and graffiti
Coming to a slow halt in front of the school
Entering the gym as the glowing florescent lights are humming
Next to the treadmills, putting a green foam mat on the ground
Stretching for fifteen minutes, loosening the muscles in my legs, back and arms
Cleaning the mat with anti-bacterial spray and a paper towel
Jogging for ten minutes, my heart beating, beating, beating
Pain in my right side of the last minute of twenty
Looking around, the cute women are catching my eye
Probably waiting for their hot boyfriends wandering in the locker room
All the men are in shape with their new white tank shirts, basketball short, and Nike shoes
Confusing look on my face of no idea what to do
Deciding to copy other men's routines of
Arm Curls, Leg presses, Rows, Squats, Military something's, and Isolated whatever's
65 minutes
Leaving the gym thinking
Waiting for the bus with alcoholics that are going to the bars early
Coming home for another shower
While grabbing the white towel, the eureka moment is lingering
Quick nap and lunch is on my mind
Setting the alarm one hour before getting ready for my next class
Getting into bed

Falling asleep

Dead as a dodo

On the island of Mauritius a heavy storm is leaving.
In the fields of the ancient wild forest a wild field of mushrooms is growing.
Snails and grasshoppers are ready for the warmth.
The old grass growing with lizards are jolting for crickets while snakes looking for lonely mice.
Falcons are flying for pray.
Shallow light Blue Ocean shimmering at each wave as the black clouds are rolling.
Waves are lapping.
Fisherman on the reefs are casting their poles.
In warm water a pack of clown fish are floating.
Tiger sharks are swimming free.
Steel drums beating in the distance.
The full moon slowly setting for the sun is rising.
At the local cemetery there is weeping.
The dodo is finally dieing.

As our country hurts from the senseless act. I read some of the comments on this story and other stories. There are a lot of you out there with mental health issues. The commentas are racist, rude and hurtful. It is okay to have a strong opinion but, why be so angry. I have not seen so much hate as I have seen in the last 2yrs. This is also including politicians. We need to stop being so angry and bitter.

Do you think that every American that hates what our government has done to us in the last 12 years has a mental issue? Maybe you should wake up and smell the roses. Our government just sent all our jobs overseas and let our country be invaded by illegal aliens. They lied to us getting us in a war we can't win. They used our treasury and our children's lives all for profit for companies like haliburton. Are you that naive? Americans are sick of being treated like crap from their own government. Illegal aliens health care comes before a lot of veterans. True or False?

CNN: Did you get this guy's permission to publish these poems? If not, you're technically breaking copyright laws...

You can only break the copyright laws if the article/texts in questions have in fact been copyrighted. Not the case here.

This is stupid, this grabbing onto any fragment of fabric of this guy's make up and waving it about as though this, in its isolation, is some sort of insight, observation as to what is in this man's mind. You have just made him a published author, congratulations .I'm sure he'd have a bigger poo eating grin knowing the type of attention he's getting, like the one he had in his booking photo. I'm rather disgusted by this type of reporting. Sensationalism, you're not trying to inform, you're just trying to get one over the next guy like vultures around a trash can.

I know...there are tons of psycho people who would kill people for just this kind of attention... That smirk is probably related to all the attention he knows he's about to get.
Nothing is more pleasing to a psychotic person than everyone looking into their mind and seeing how 'disturbed' they are......

These are not rambling, these are actually artistic and sometimes rather refined observations. They don't seem to show dead end mentality. There may be other writings of interest.

After this incident I noticed how CNN is not reporting any kind of story that has the potential to be inflamatory. We have now reached a new turning point in our country because the American people are not going to hear issues that matter. For example when an illegal alien commits a crime CNN calls them migrant workers. They are not migrants, they are illegal aliens. All you will hear pretty soon is news about Lindsey Lohan while some muslem smuggles some germ warfare over the open mexican border. God forbid we should offend anybody!

Looks like he's got a shiner on his left eye. Was there any mention of the people that subdued him giving him a couple of knuckles to the face.. Man, I hope so.. And with that smirk, I'd like to give him a few more.

You guys are missing the point. They're not posting his poems as if they're brilliant. Anytime somebody flips and does something horrific like this, they always want to analyze everything the person did. Was he crying out for help and nobody noticed? Did his teachers read his work and think they had a depressed person who needs help and they didn't report it? What kind of music did he listen to? They always try to blame it on something. Many questions come up and people study this. Posting his poems is just trying to show what his thoughts are and to take it for what they're worth. Which to me is nothing. Next they'll tell us what he ate for breakfast every day leading up the the murders. It's disgusting. Personally, I agree, and I don't think his poems should be posted. People are interested in reading it though. If they found Charles Manson's diary, a lot of people would be interested in reading it to see his thoughts.

Lets see if I can match his poetic genius:

The black clouds of the grizzly forest of the night-time bartending hangover of blackness
crackheads linger in the midst of the sycamore trees of vicious monkey dreams and then I take a shower
My head looks and pretty girls and their boyfriends are hot

Man, and I didn't even have to take a class!
