4 shot in Detroit police precinct; suspect dead

Four police officers were shot at a Detroit police precinct on Sunday afternoon and taken to a local hospital, the city's police chief said.

A person that police identified as the shooter was shot dead, according to state police Sgt. Keyonn Whitfield.

There was no immediate information about the condition of the wounded officers, who were transported to Detroit's Sinai-Grace Hospital.

The shooting occurred at the Detroit Police Department's sixth precinct station, according to Michigan State Police Sgt. Gerald Badgett. The station is on the city's west side.

Sinai-Grace Hospital would not release information on the officers' conditions, spokeswoman Tina Taylor said. She said the Detroit Police department would release that information.

No matter the law, people will carry guns. Legal or illegal, certain types of people will get their hands on weapons. Argue about wether guns should be legal or not all you want. Change in law does not mean change in behavior.

With a large portion of the country wanting to put laws into place that allow a person to carry a gun into every public place and now into government buildings, and what about Arizona where you need not even get a permit to be able to have a loaded gun in public. With the general mindset being secure as much ammunition and as many firearms as possible, we will probably see more and more gun violence and senseless deaths in America.

Gun contol does not mean taking eveyones guns away. It means not allowing the people who shouldn't have guns can't get them!

Sure Sarah, of course. Criminals won't go to the Black Market to purchase guns because they are so law abiding. Just like in Mexico, where guns are sold regularly, and law abiding families can't defend themselves. Real smart logic.

Citizens have been allowed to carry guns for a long time. Obviously, this strategy hasn't been working. It's time to try something else.

  9. What is this I don't even

Why did this have to turn into a pro versus anti gun control thread? My best wishes to the officers for a speedy recovery. Hopefully we can all agree on that at least. . . .

Sure. If they be good officers. If they be officers on the take, I hope their wounds get maggots from their hearts.

As long as life in America is life in America, this is bound to happen. The criminals seem to have more rights than everybody else. We even have one blogging in here by the name of Jim Brieske with his filthy mind.
