Four police officers were shot at a Detroit police precinct on Sunday afternoon and taken to a local hospital, the city's police chief said.
A person that police identified as the shooter was shot dead, according to state police Sgt. Keyonn Whitfield.
There was no immediate information about the condition of the wounded officers, who were transported to Detroit's Sinai-Grace Hospital.
The shooting occurred at the Detroit Police Department's sixth precinct station, according to Michigan State Police Sgt. Gerald Badgett. The station is on the city's west side.
Sinai-Grace Hospital would not release information on the officers' conditions, spokeswoman Tina Taylor said. She said the Detroit Police department would release that information.

Smh.
Avenging the brutal murder of Aiyana Jones, admirable.
+1
Numbaoneballa: You are a pathetic piece of Detroit trash. I can only hope your N***** ass is the next to be shot in Detroit. Go back to your welfare and selling your crack you stupid POS. Bad monkey.....no banana for you!!!
only in detroit
suicide by cop, happens all the time.
Where else but Detroit
It just happened in Woodland Hills, CA a couple days ago too. It's happening everywhere. Not just Detroit.
SMH. This is a very serious matter. Definitely not a time for joking. This country has become a circus of violence and this has to stop.
There really needs to be tighter gun control in this country, especially in the big cities. Don't wanna hear crap about the 2nd amendment. Its time for common sense to prevail.
These firearms out on the streets are or were legal at one time. I say make the owners responsible for the crimes their firearms are involved in. Betcha see a dramatic drop in gun crimes and "thefts".
I agree with you 100% Zeb!
Circus of violence because of guns? How many thousands of people have been killed long before guns were ever invented? GUNS won this county it's FREEDOM! We didn't have a large army we had MILITIA. Citizens who brought their GUNS to fight the British and gain people like you the FREEDOM to be able to get on CNN and make comments!
@ZEB criminals are going to get guns no matter what.. even if they have to make them.
tougher laws wont work, it will just make the price go up.
Thoughts and prayers to the victims and fine officers of Detroit.
If the government stopped bringing all of these 'illegal' guns in the country, we wouldn't have this problem, now would we?
Yep. The gun market needs a good looking at. Making guns in Austria (which are illegal in that country) then importing them to the US is a bit looney.
The government isn't bringing them in. Its private gun owners who're trafficking or allowing them to be stolen. Must crimes involve robbery and drugs. Even the Mexican police fighting drug cartels trace many of true weapons back to the US.
We have to stop the blame game and do our part and stop the violence in our land.
Marshall & Aisha, are you from Detroit? I assure you that it's not the only place this happens.
@Zeb crap about the 2nd Amendment? Circus of violence? The facts don't support either statement. First of all, violence is way down in spite of increased media coverage. Second, this criminal was willing to shoot police officers. Do you think he wouldn't get a gun no matter what the law says?
Less emotion, more logic.
I meant what I said. Some parts of our country you can carrying firearms is a way of life, but not where they're a problem. NYC has a mandatory 3yrs in prison for carrying. It'll never be perfect, but its curbed violent crimes dramatically to a point where its now America's safest big city.
And, yes. This country had become a circus of violence.

The people that preach about guns, gun laws, and gun control are the people that are uneducated about guns, gun laws, and gun control. It has proven time and time again that gun control doesn't work and does not reduce crime. All control does is violate the rights of us law abiding gun owners.
Thoughts and prayers to the families of the officers, both blood and blue.
It's amazing, because you don't see crazy gun stories as rampant in the south, where you can carry concealed weapons as a way of life with a concealed weapons license, but in a lot of northern states, where the gun laws are very stringent, it's tough for law abiding citizens to have weapons.
Whatever dude.i reside in va with a concealed carry.my area has low crime.dont wanna hear any socialist yip-yap about gun control.im keepin my heat.you guys can go eat vegan burgers dude lol
