Amid Egyptian crisis, Obama meets with security team

As violence in the streets continued in Egypt, U.S. President Barack Obama convened a meeting of his national security team on Saturday, the White House said in a statement.

During the meeting, which lasted just more than an hour, Obama was updated on the situation in North Africa. He restated the U.S. focus on opposing violence, upholding universal rights, calling for restraint and supporting Egyptian efforts of political reform.

Among the meeting's participants were Vice President Joe Biden; National Security Adviser Tom Donilon; John Brennan, assistant to the president for homeland security and counterterrorism; White House Press Secretary Robert Gibbs and senior advisor David Plouffe.

Mr. Mubarack suffers from a terminal cancer. His days are numbered because of this. He wants the power for his son.

The more he resists the termination of his ruling the more will bring 'many others like him' down with him. The reversal is in progress right now and resisting is wrong. You follow what is coming on you or you get 'hit' by the 'tide'. But I bet many others must 'go' too... I hope Mr Obama will understand in time the profound effect of his 'move' if is a wrong one.
    Israel people will be alright.

This event can not be compared with anything else humans witnessed.

people all over the world stand in solidarity with the Egyptian people in there stand against empty promises by a government whitch exists to care for its people.governments take notice we deserve to not only be heard, but respected and and cared for as part of the human family, not just another wheel in the machinery that is driving us to attention to the signs this is not an isolated incident.

Sorry folks, but someone enjoys posting with my name. The United States had an obligation to respond to 9/11, thus Afghanistan. This is why GW made his difficult decision. God bless our troops, but it's time to bring them home-too many shattered lives.

How old are all of you? Is anyone old enough to remember 9/11? Terrorists attacked and killed over 3000 people on American soil! We retalliated in Afghanistan and Iran. That's the "business we are sticking our noses in"! Stop repeating the noise you have heard about the BIG BAD Americans and be thankful you live in America. And Obama has NO interest in securing our borders! He wants EVERYONE to be able to come in!!

@Meg, now why would I do that, sweetie; especially since I was born in Fort Wort, Texas at St. Jude Hospital, which is no longer standing. I have a better idea, Meg. Why don't you and I go to Olive Garden and sip on a few margaritas and let's see what happens. No promises, baby, but if you treat me well, you just might get lucky.
