Elementary school principal killed in shooting; man arrested

The principal of an elementary school in northern California was shot to death Wednesday, police said.

Placerville Police Chief George Nielsen identified the victim as Sam Lacara, 50, the principal of Schnell School, who was shot in the upper torso.

John Luebbers, 44, a custodial employee, was arrested in connection with the shooting, which was believed to have stemmed from a dispute between the two men, Nielsen said.

No schoolchildren were injured, but authorities believe one student may have seen the shooting.

Gun laws only make it more difficult for law abiding citizens to procure firearms....not criminals...bad folks who want to do bad things with guns with still have access to them thru illegal channels regardless of what the law says...limiting my RIGHT to own a gun would not have kept that principal from being shot, but educating and arming the principal probably would have....

The people that lawfully obtain guns for the most part are not the ones we have to worry about. It's the gang members, drug dealers and the like that cause the most issues. Guess what, drugs are illegal but that doesnt stop them from being used. If you dont want any freedom, move to North Korea or Iran.

I'm worried about the people who lawfully obtain guns, Lauren, even though you aren't. I'm worried about people having guns, period, no matter how they obtained them.

Take away the guns and the idiots will strap bombs to themselves like they do in other parts of the world. CNN will cover it then.

Do your gun restrictions make guns disappear in the wind? Again, laws only restrict those that abide by them...unless you have a magic wand up your sleeve? the idea of an all out gun ban would never do what you would want it to do......how are you not aware of that?

No guns equals no shootings? How are the guns going to evaporate? That school was gun free; did that stop it? Pot is illegal nationwide, I guess there is no pot in America?

Yeah I'm getting my family guns next week one dating back to the 1800's...why should I have my family history taken from me because some ass shot a guy 2000 miles away? Then cars should be band from women because women run over cheating husbands. Let's drugs are outlawed yet I could still get hold of them...I wonder if that would be the same if guns where outlawed....um...yep

Stinks, doesn't it? Donate your guns to a museum, so the child of future generations can learn about the evolution (devolution) of gun culture.

Look at Egypt-no guns there, lots of violence though. Get real foolish America, guns are not the cause of violence. Maybe if they had guns this thing would be settled by now?

Not saying it is ok (far from it) but it sure brought about a rapid end to that situation did it not? It also opens up the doors again as an argemnet that weapons in hand are a means of prevention. That said many many people take that concept too far these days. Way too far.

I agree what celeb will make a commerical about gun violence? Rather then saying that's gay. They really know how yo use their fame to help our country. Everytime the US has a serious where is government and people who have a voice? There no where to be found. Anywhere else who isn't America gets their help so fast! Ur American y r u turning ur backs on us?
