Ohio college student killed, 11 wounded, university says

A student at Ohio's Youngstown State University was killed and 11 others, including six students, were wounded in an off-campus shooting Sunday morning, university officials said.

No further details were immediately available about the shooting in the northeast Ohio city, and the condition of the wounded was not known. University spokesman Ron Cole said there was no threat to the campus, but campus police have stepped up their presence "as a precaution."

@asia parker: what is the name of the fraternity? Huh? You were there, right? Riiiiiiiiiiight!

They'll eventually release the name of the fraternity. There are good AND bad fraternities; don't lump them all in one category.

Condolences to the family of the student.

How can I be laughing at a time like this? Because it's always a "time like this" nowadays, and I'm a happy camper. That's why! 🙂

I've been attending Youngstown State for 3 years, and I am surprised this doesn't happen more often. Youngstown is a WAR ZONE. There was gunshots at a (urban) downtown nightclub called Love Lounge that same night but the local media hasn't covered it in an attempt to not harm the downtown nightlife.

From what I've read and heard, Youngstown has been a rough place for a while...most likely due to the steel industry's downward spiral. Sad, very sad...

First off kids are poocees so they need a gun to aim at someone in order to feel tough once in a while. Secondly America is now infected with trailer trash and ghetto culture. The normal citizens don't care which is really sick. Then everyone complains about their life and lack of jobs. Guns are not really the problem. A gun in the hand of a well trained and mentally stable human would never be used for murder. A gun (probably illegal) in the hand of these little coward psychos is very dangerous. They idolize tv gangsters and music gangsters most of whom are just a bunch of pretenders to begin with. If every rapper was really a gangster then most of them would be dead. Sorry to tell you kids but they're fake thugs. Now go back to your studies. 😉

I attended YSU for 5 years and lived very close to campus for 2 of them. Heard gun shots almost every night and its scary! People don't realize how dangerous Youngstown is and something needs to be done about it!
