Lindsay Lohan to be charged with necklace theft

Actress Lindsay Lohan will be charged Wednesday with felony grand theft relating to a necklace allegedly taken from a Venice, California, jewelry store last month, a prosecutor said Tuesday.

Lohan, 24, will be arraigned on the charge at 1:30 p.m. Wednesday at the Los Angeles Airport Superior Court, Deputy District Attorney John Lynch said.

The actress "allegedly walked out of the store with the necklace on January 22," a statement from the district attorney's office said. "The owner reported the theft to the Los Angeles Police Department, which investigated the
allegation and presented evidence to the D.A.'s office last week."

The necklace, which is valued at $2,500, was handed over to police just before they were to execute a search warrant to look for the jewelry in Lohan's Venice, California, apartment last week.

Lohan was already on supervised probation stemming from probation violations related to a 2007 drunk driving conviction.

Thanks CNN! You're always first to deliver the hard-hitting stories.

Except, this isn't hard-hitting and I saw it on TMZ over an hour ago.

Feel bad? Why? She's a multi-millionaire who knows she is doing something bad. She wrote FU on her finger nails, aimed at the judge. So, she knows what she is doing. She doesn't have a problem, she is just misguided and needs to find new friends. You can blame her parents, whom aren't much better, or blame her. Don't blame society. She is 25. She's an adult. It's time for her to grow up.

Seriously CNN. I have been coming to the site for years and years but this is not news, it's garbage – it does not deserve a "HEADLINE" perhaps something on your entertainment page! Seriously. Not sure if I am coming back to check news at your site. Will you post this?

no kidding – and why doesn't she do jail time? I could see us all breaking out a hanky if she was a good actress but she's not impressed that many – incredible. She's almost like Paris Hilton (famous for no reason)...

Leave her alone? She is accused of stealing a valuable necklace. Why should this miserable excuse for a human being get another pass for something that would get you or me thrown in jail for a long time for?

I agree with above. We are still in a war – lenders wont help home owners because there is more money in foreclosures – the Senate schedule is every 3rd week off (look at their own schedule) – the top 2% who got their tax cut have yet to show how they helped the economy (jobs) WE ARE NOT HOLDING PEOPLE ACCOUNTABLE – what ever happened to the news?
