Saudi Arabia considers matching U.S. military aid to Egypt

It shouldn't be,Samson. It's been going on for the last 40 years, that is since 1972 under Anwar Saddat. The Egyptian economy has been deteriorating ever since!!!

Saudi call for this is the same as when neighboring Monarchs in French Revolution came to their assistants. Saudi was the first to criticize the protesters when majority of the world was on their side.....what a surprise, will Saudi family realize that their day is numbered as well, as this idea of representative democracy spreads ....people in the Middle East are connected through culture and media...so democracy in Egypt is the biggest threat to the dictators in Saudi Arabia

There will never be a representative democracy in Saudi Arabia. If the royal family falls, the other side of the government that they answer to will take over. Saudi Arabia is and will always be run by the Matawas (religious police of Islam).

Saudis are going to sell metal crap for 1.5 billion, and that might be favored by Israel.

in other news: us aid increases to saudi arabia. sources close to the white house confirm the amount is completely coincidentally equal to the amount of aid saudi arabia pledged to egypt.

I have no problems with Saudi Arabia helping their neighbor. I doubt we would cut aid unless the current government was replaced with an anti-American Government.

I do question our providing aid to any other countries when we can not afford to run our own country. We are in debt and we have to borrow additional funds on top of our old debt every year.

Let's keep our money & resources at home. When did any country offer to help or defend our country?

we cut the money off to Egypt to stop the funding of the secret police, and goon squads, that are causeing the chaos, beatings, kidnappings, intimidation and deaths of the protesters. And good old SA steps right in and takes over in our place without one mis-step?
Excuse me but how does this help the people in Egypt?
And how does it help America?
If by cutting off these funds in the first place was to say to the government in place; STOP. How does it relay that message? The Beacon of Freedom isn't shouting quite loud enough for my taste. This is what we are, FREEDOM!

Look what Saudi Arabia did to Pakistan and Afghanistan with their aid. It will be the end of Egypt as you see it now. Let's not let another nation fall into their trap. If you think Egyptions don't have freedom now wait for a Taliban type of government.

Pretty obvious why the Saudis' will "give" aid to Egypt. If Egypt goes democratic, guess who's next or near next on the HIT PARADE?????
The Saudis have a huge investment in keeping their thumb in the mid east pie and of course it will help save us billions of dollars in the short and long run.

I am not an isolationist and I definitely belive in equality of human rights for all. But, if we go bust financially or weaken ourselves being the worlds super cop, then who's going to come to our aid???

NOT A SINGLE SOLITARY DAMN COUNTRY OR PERSON ON THIS PLANET!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

We dont want Mubarak, We dont want American Aid, Can we be free from everyone? Free from America and Free from Americans and Saudi, We can take care of our selves. The fact is that they need us more than we need them, every nation in this world is selfish, is there anyone, anynation who really think and care about real, peace and freedom in the world, i guess no, its so sad.

Sorry ...... Unfortunately most people over here only know what they see in the news. They tend to be oblivious to the reality that people in other countries are going through. I wish you all the best over there.

Don't we already give military aid to the Saudis? So they'd be just passing on aid we'd already given to them.

The Saudis let us have bases in their country and we allow them to purchase American military equipment. I do not think that counts as aid. We do give aid to the current Egyptian government & Israel along with a lot of other countries.
