Saudi Arabia considers matching U.S. military aid to Egypt

To alleviate U.S. pressure on the Egyptian army, Saudi Arabia would consider matching the estimated $1.5 billion the United States provides Egypt in military aid each year if Washington decides to cut its aid to the troubled North African nation, an Arab diplomat says.

    Dear Madam Adhikari.

If you really want your freedom then your probably going to have to do what America did 237 years ago. Bleed, Bleed and then Bleed and die and fight your oppressors. If you can't then stop your complaining.
Most peoples in the world do not understand what freedom really is or what it took/takes to get it. We've spent hundreds of years refining our laws. Hundreds of years trying to perfect our freedoms. So mmy advise is start somewhere and work for it.

"Give control to Saudis"...this is crazy! The root cause of evils in the muslim world are deep rooted in the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia and their version of Islam which is "Wahabiism".

well said my friend, Saudis are the root cause of all the problems in middle east and the reason they all hate US is because we protect the Saudis for OUR interest.

What the difference if Saudis pay? Its our money anyway. They will jack up the oil price to make up for it.

I guess Egypt wants no more tourist ? Tourism for religion is a multi billion dollar industry in the U.S. Egypt has or did have a lot of American tourist. Who is going to make up the billions of dollars that are lost ?

They want the end of the rule of a dictator who took over in the early 1980's by killing Mr Sadat. That has nothing to do with our relationship with the Egyptian people. Only our current actions can have any effect on that. We need to be careful and stand for the principles and human dignity if the Egyptian people if we want favorable relations in the future.

You are right. When the major religions fight each other, God/Allah always looses and the devil wins. The current issue in Egypt is not a religious issue. The good people of Egypt have been living under a police state for almost 30 years and they are tired of it.

there are hundreds of American troops maintaining the Camp David accord peace. What will happen if the new Egyptian government will ask them to leave? Will that start a war with Israel?

I doubt it ... The people in Egypt are fighting to be able to determine their own destiny and have a chance to get out of poverty. This has everything to do with the repression that the Egyptian people have been under and very little to do with other countries and religion.

Let's not forget that saudi arabia was one of the biggest opponents of egypt after the "republican" revolution of muhammad najuib and gamal abdel nasser. Now they are both reviled as governments.

Has anyone speculated that perhaps Satan is behind the religious division? How do you control billions of people's lives and souls, while amassing wealth in the name of God only to watch in glee as the sheep murder each other? Yup! Religion. I became skeptical when I read the story of cain and able. Would a just and kind God really desire the blood of a cute lamb? Would a kind and just god condone slavery or stoning a loved one? Would all the infinite knowledge God possesses be pigeonholed to one book that contains less information than one law book in a library of dozens? Nope. It's all Satan I'm afraid.
