Egypt's harassed women need own revolution

Several months before Egypt's revolution, CNN producer and camerawoman Mary Rogers wrote a piece for CNN.com on the sexual harassment of women in Cairo.

News of the attack on CBS reporter Lara Logan, as well as other sexual assaults against women during Egypt's uprising, show that attacks against women have not gone away.

Read Rogers' updated account of sexual harassment in Egypt, including what she and other colleagues faced during the past few weeks.

It was so clear it was not the normal Egyptian people who do any of that, for 18 days there was hundred thousand of girls in street with out single harassment, it's so clear it was the regime who want to scare people

Whistling and offering to buy drinks are not harassment. This article is about $exual assault. Something a little (i.e. a lot) different from both harassment and flirting. Don't know why I take the time to educate the morons.....

Honestly, I don't like it at all when men shout and whistle at me. I think it makes most women very uncomfortable. But obviously a lot of men don't know this, because they keep doing it!

All this shows just how little Hosni Mubarak cared about the women in Egypt, just like felt about the common people in general.

    Hi, Cesar!

Every time there is an upset of *any* kind *anywhere* crimes against women happen. Thugs across the ages have always done this; where do you think the term "rap ing and pillaging the village" comes from?

And don't answer that, RUFFNUTT! It was a rhetorical question! 😉

how come no one ever talks about women on man violence?

i was at the store the other day with my friend nolyf and there was a fat lady in front of us in line sitting in the mobile-driving-shopping-cart reserved for handycap people, and she wasnt hadicap just fat.. so i said 'looks like she wants to be wider that she is tall" well then her mom pulled up in another moble-shopping-cart-thingy and i about lost it and said " i guess it must be genetic, i bet you they drive a clowncar and are working at the circus as a pair of fat ladies...."

well she turned around and ran my foot over with the cart and told me they had a putuitory disorder and couldn't help being fat and started yelling at me.. funny thing i noticed tho was alll the food they were buying was fat-people food like hotdogs cheese and snackcakes..

People do talk about it. It just isn't the subject of this article. And two wrongs don't make a right. Take your $exism elsewhere.

@Reader, Men love it when women make eye contact or make comments like "aahhhh" So I guess you don't like to be appreciated. Enjoy it now baby, because once you're over the hill, men won't give you a second look-sad but true. Of course who cares if you have the perfect mate.

I agree with you Cesar. Don't these fools get your goat. They were probably bullies in school and that 's why they're so insensitive to those on the receiving end.

Maybe Egypts harassed women need to be fully trained in handguns, tazers, and pepper spray to defend themselves. Women don't have have to put up with that kind of treatment, anywhere, anytime. Men standing by "watching it happen", are just as guity as the ones committing the harassment.
