Oscars: "Gasland" director and movie star take on Washington

A man who lives in Colorado sticks a lighter under his kitchen faucet. He places the flame into the streaming tap water, and a ball of fire leaps up, nearly burning him.

"This is something we did over and over again in gas drilling areas," said documentary filmmaker Josh Fox. His movie "Gasland," nominated for an Academy Award, contains interviews with people from across the United States who say a new form of natural gas drilling has threatening consequences. Oscar-nominated actor Mark Ruffalo has joined Fox. Ruffalo lives in New York, which began to take a close look at fracking last year.

    People of the United States of America,
    If water can catch fire coming out of your tap anywhere in this country,somebody in the Local,State and Federal Government needs to go to jail for letting this happen and worse not fixing the problem.I cannot believe(but can) how this type of thing is allowed to happen.God Bless this film marker,I hope he wins something for this film.

    people underestimate the power of gas.. one night i seen a buddy of mine light a beer-fart on fire.. well the explosion was so great that the flames went thru his pants and lit his butt-hair on fire.. he got 2nd degree burns and we had to take him to the hospital..
