50 people in 50 days: Police still searching for Haleigh Cummings

Editor's note: Nancy Grace's new show on HLN, "Nancy Grace: America's Missing," is dedicated to finding 50 people in 50 days. As part of the effort, which relies heavily on audience participation, CNN.com's news blog This Just In will feature the stories of the missing.

This is the 32nd case, and it will be shown Tuesday night on HLN.

It's been more than two years since 5-year-old Haleigh Cummings was last seen alive in Satsuma, Florida. Since then, her family has gone through a marriage, a divorce and drug arrests, but there is still no sign of the little girl who was last seen by her babysitter-turned-stepmother, Misty Croslin, on February 9, 2009.

At the time Haleigh went missing, Croslin was living in the family's mobile home with her then-boyfriend, Ronald Cummings, Haleigh and her 4-year-old brother. Croslin told police that Haleigh was snatched from the trailer in middle of the night while she slept.

Investigators have said physical evidence contradicts Croslin's account of the events that night but have stopped short of charging her in the girl's death. Today, Croslin is in prison after being sentenced to 25 years on drug-related charges involving the trafficking of prescription narcotics, including oxycodone and hydrocodone. She continues to maintain her innocence. Haleigh's father will serve 15 years in prison and was fined $250,000 for selling prescription drugs. The two married after Haleigh's disappearance and divorced soon afterward.

Meanwhile, police continue to search for clues in Haleigh's disappearance.

I think they gave her such a long sentence for the pills because they know she had somethin to do with Haileys disappearance but cant put her away for it for lack of proof .

Thats what I think, too, Raven. Isn't that guilty till proven innocent? Selling a little codeine is as common as pot. Its on any streetcorner and its usually a deferred 2 year sentence and a fine.

Clearly they wanted Misty to spill her guts about Haleigh. They even wait till after she turned the big 18 to get her to sell them the pills. MIsty did not even have the pills to sell. She got a fee from the undercover for her help and she went with him where he then bought the pills from Donna, Tommy, Hope (drug house) and Ron or Ron and Misty. Then the undercover gave Ron and Misty 200 pills for free, telling them they can sell the pills and pay him back and that he has "plently of time to play with" they could get him the money within two weeks. I think if MIsty was some big time drug dealer she would not have to have this undercover drive her hours away to the area where Donna Brock lived so she could sell him the meds she got from the dentist. Now, did cops get what they wanted? Turns out Misty told them Joe did it the night they arrested her. But she gave them Tommy on some other crime that could be related to Haleigh IMO. Still if Misty is innocent of the crime of murder and if there is anyone she can blame (honestly) then why is her trap still shut?
Tommy is not the brightest, on his jail house calls saying how he knew that guy was a cop. How he told Misty that guy is a cop but then he sold him the drugs because "he wanted to get high". So, he knew the guy was a cop but he wanted to get high so bad he sold to him anyway? Makes me wonder what else Tommy would do for those drugs.

Doesn't say how many times this person has been charged with the same thing...and drug trafficking is a very big deal as it involves dealings on a multi-state level. Not to mention that it was a little more than just "a few pills".And say what you will, she was found guilty of those charges, and they sentenced her within the guidelines of prevailing law. Oh well...sux to be her.

Maybe so, name. If thats the case, though, Ive got about five life terms comin' to me. And if thats prevailing law, I call it a perversion of justice.

Im pretty sure it was her first offense . They only caught them (her and ronald)because they were under surveillance for Haleighs disappearance . I think she knows more than shes lettin on but not sure shell ever tell . i think the cops thought they could use her arrest and sentencing as leverage to get her to talk but looks like shes just gonna take her lumps .hope they at least find poor Haleighs body to give the family some closure. i feel bad for them .

I think that the child got into the drugs somehow and over dosed or was given a small amount to quiet her down and get her to sleep.Probably the same think with the Casey Anthony case.In both cases they panicked and tried to make up a story that they were kidnapped.
And a reply to dan I was a druggie back in the 60's and you never got fronted pills or drugs .Drug addicts are about the least reliable to pay you back.If dealers did that they would be out of business fast.
