It's official: Charlie Sheen has entered the Twittersphere, and people want to hear what he has to say.
The actor turned "unemployed winner" had amassed more than 150,000 followers (and counting) on Twitter before he posted his first tweet Tuesday night, less than two hours after joining. Check out this chart on "The Atlantic" to get an idea of what that kind of growth looks like.
His first tweet - complete with Twitpic - invites followers to choose their preferred vice. On the left, a bottle of "Naked" fruit juice, held lovingly by a busty blonde thought to be porn star Bree Olson - one of two "goddesses" who have been accompanying Sheen on his talk-show rounds and public appearances. On the right, a bottle of chocolate milk, held by a smirking Sheen.
Within an hour of its posting, the Twitpic alone had 726 comments (and counting!).
Sheen has been talking a lot since declaring himself "at war" with CBS after the network canceled production of the hit sitcom "Two and a Half Men."
On Monday, Sheen threatened to sue CBS over the action. He told NBC he wanted $3 million per episode instead of the $2 million he was previously making, but he later backed off that assertion, telling CNN's Piers Morgan that his only hard-and-fast demand was that he and the crew get paid for another eight weeks of work - a demand to which CBS appears to have partially assented.
And that's how it's done.
So basically you are saying he is now a fully armed and operational battle station? Nice!
Only in Hollywood. Ignore him, eventually he'll go away.
I think it's pure comedy. In the last 48 hours, one dude's potential nuerosis have occupied a billion hours of air time and a trillion $ of ad-space therein. That's just today, we've got 3-5 more days of BS tto listen to.
I'm proud to say I agree with every one of his comments. He's not dreaming of dancing bears or Tim Leary, he's commenting rationally on a specific business situation involving his employer, and individuals involved. That's it. Our speed to condemn each of his words due to committed experience with 'drugs' is comical. Since we in the US collectively have nothing important to focus on due to our surplus, we gravitate towards nonsense like this as the top national story. Kudos to Charlie for illustrating this so clearly.
Get the best of Charlie's wit on a t-shirt http://www.cafepress.com/sheentees
@Tom: Yes, we can't possibly repel insanity of that magnitude!
Go Charlie go!
Saw the interview last night. Sheen was out of his damn mind on crack for the whole interview. Anyone who thinks differently knows absolutely nothing about drugs. If that guy is sober, then I can beat the traffic by wishing and floating to work this morning.
Mr. Sheen is clearly suffering from a mental disorder. This is not entertainment. This is not likely to end well without professional help. It's really sad to see a mentally ill person being exploited for ratings.
Idiot who has fried his brain cells with too many years of drugs. He sounds like someone who should be in a straight jacket in the local mental facility. Nothing coming out of his mouth makes any sense. I feel sorry for his children what a legacy.
First of all drugs don't really fry brain cells. Secondly what Charlie is saying makes perfect sense, you're just to dense to understand it.
To Reality Check: You need one. IDIOT!!
He sounds like an intelligent manic. The stuff sounds crazy and egotistical, but it all makes sense.
Sound like "reality check" needs a reality check. Get your head out of the sand, clueless twit.
I worked in prison for many years, yes, regular hard drug use absolutely fry your brains. No one needs look any further than meth or crack or heroin.
Mary...are you saying that otherwise, anyone in Hollywood should be paid any attention to?
to wlmknight: I worked in a prison too, but I never looked at anyones brain cells.
@realitycheck: If drugs do not "fry" (destroy) brain cells, what exactly do they do? Make you more enjoyable to be around? Make you more coherent? Idiot.
Have you SEEN Sheen? His behavior is a perfect example for all our children. You go to YouTube with your children; show them a video and say, "This is what happens to you when you are on drugs. You go crazy like Charlie Sheen. Need further convincing? Here's more videos. This man is Ozzy Osbourne...."
Since drugs do not destroy brain cells, I guess the millions of addicts out there with fried brains are what, misdiagnosed?? Just playing?
Exactly what are you on that you can make this assertion? Crawl back under your rock, please.
This just in! Charlie Sheen has a bowel movement! Breaking news! Charlie Sheen eats a sandwich!
After seeing the one millionth Charlie Sheen article posted in the last month, I just had to sound off here. Sorry in advance to his biggest fans, but here is the only Charlie Sheen non-news that you need:
Charlie Sheen is either a pompous jerk or a man with serious mental illness. Either way, we need to quit encouraging this spectacle and perhaps we can deflate his massive ego long enough for him to get help.
Really? What kind of sandwich?
More details on the bowel movement please.
Was the Bowel movment a result of the sandwich?
@YJ..It was egg sndwich.
@Jules43..T'was that same egg sandwich.
@Gotta Love the Spectacle..How'd you know?
Leave Charlie alone; he's a grown man; he does a good show & I love his humor.
Thanks for the voice of intelligent and mature reason. Good points.
Just be patient. Charlie will crash and burn in due time. He's having his fun in the sun with that enormous ego and pride but sooner or later his willpower will lose and he will have to surrender.
This doesn't really seem to be about Charlie. I think it's about our lust for soap opera crap in yet another incarnation of "reality television." We are feeding this beast, and we are the addicts. People are still amped up over Michael Jackson's descent into death, and Charlie's gonna be even more sickening. Can't you just taste it? If we didn't want him to do what he's doing, he'd be another tree falling in the forrest. Boy, that sounds about as dopey as something a nitwit tv star junkie might come up with on a twitter rant. But I'm sane and sober!
So sad to watch the disease of addiction killing someone. Denial is such a powerful part of the disease and is pervasive throughout and strongest toward the bottom of the downward spiral. Look at him in that picture. He looks 20 years older than he is. When an addict is so incredibly fearful that getting clean isn't actually possible and that they're most likely destined to die an awful death the disease takes on a life of its own. Some people just can't be helped. Every addict knows that. That's why those in recovery consider themselves the lucky one's. I've seen people worse than Charlie get clean. It is possible. But it's not going to happen anytime soon. He's far too caught up in his delusional belief that he's perfectly fine right now...
Well said.
Charlie has never denied that he uses drugs or that he is addicted to them. Also he does not look 20 years older than he is, he is 46 years old and looks his age, he doesn't look anywhere near 66? I'm also sure that you know drug addicts who make 2 million per week to support their own habit.
Keep trying to bring this man down with your filth.
reality check: "Stop bringing him down with YOUR FILTHY"??? What drugs are YOU ON?
Who made you Judge CYCLIST, or psyCYCLIST.
@RealityCheck: I don't get why people keep using his salary to justify his worth as an individual. His drug abuse is more acceptable because he's rich? If he committed murder, would that be OK, too, because he's rich? Is this what we really stand for as a nation and a culture, that wealth = worth? I don't get why everyone is standing up for him just because he's wealthy. Money doesn't make anyone a superior human being and certainly isn't a justification for immoral, illegal, or otherwise unhealthy behaviors. RealityCheck, it seems you need just one of those, where are your human values?
Are you in a 12-step program? It sounds like it. You have a good handle on Charlie's imminent future.
Absolutely! I am no fan, but the poor guy is a train wreck and apparently doesn't even realize it yet. Denial is NOT a river in Egypt, as the old old saying goes. Well said.
Charlie is just fine, all he needs is a little hair of the dog and he is good to go.
Why are people like you sad to see his demise? I am currently laid off union worker and it kills my excess time watching another human being self destruct. It's all good clean fun, not so much for him but for me and the millions of other out of work citizens. It's entertainment and he wanted to be an entertainer. Let him live is soon to be over life while entertaining ours.
The disease is mental illness, the result is addiction, and in Sheen's case, ultimately death.
Typical behavior for a full blown addict, Sheen will crash and burn, sad but when he thinks he's in the right and he's sane, no one can do anything. He does look like he's on the downside now, but hey....there's always another egomaniac pig just around the corner. Somebody give this fella Mel's phone number, they have too much in common.......
@ Reality Check: Actually, I watched the big interview last night, and while you're correct about him not denying his drug USE, Sheen denied that he was addicted to anything, ever, consistently. He also appeared to have smoked a good deal of crack either right before or during the interview.
I have to feel sorry for Mr. Sheen, he appeared to be , as they say, " not with the program " when Piers interviewed him. Whatever he has been, or is taking, must be devastating.
I'm not going to say anything negative about old Charlie. I have a feeling he'll take care of his business and prove all the naysayers wrong. I'll take his advice and just sit back and enjoy the show.
And hope for a new season of 2 and a half.
Agreed; leave him alone..
I agree. And I agree with a lot of what he is saying. Granted, he comes off as rather manic at times. So what. He is not incoherent if you actually listen but instead just write him off. This is a little war between him and Lorre, that's all. And war is some ugly stuff. All Charlie is is a Viking warrior berserking on magic mushrooms. What's wrong with that?
I wonder how long the public will have to wait for a drunken, slobbery tweet from this twit.
YESSSSS!!! and I thought it wouldn't get better....
He is clearly not of sound mind. Probably brilliant but blinded by the sight Himself. No way this guy will every be a stable character. He just won't live that long, I fear.
I'm not a fan of sheen I'm a fan of the show CBS is an a--zz for canceling the show. I find it unecessary and a power play if pride which incurs much loss to good talented actors as sheen and his peers. CBS should take total ownership for its decision to shut down this show and stop playing mind game with the fans. I'm smart enough to know the difference between oranges and apples. Stupid CBS not wised enough to overlook the darnell for the wheat...CBS knuckleheads!
You rock Charlie – Don't let all the naysayers bring you down.
You're right up there with Charlie. Seek help.
Says Kevin while slopping down beer; listening to "Disturbed" and living off his parents while he gives the two-finger sign to Charlie. Way to go loser.
who the hell cares bout charlie sheen??? honestly, why is this guy headline news every freikin day???????
Those 150,000 followers, I guess...or perhaps those 726 people who commented on his twit..or it might be US who comment here..and it includes YOU.
It got you here
Charlie Sheen looks like he is suffering from a serious medical disease and must seek medical help.
Agreed. Unfortunately, there's nothing legally that can be done (until it's too late).
death watch.
Amen
I'm adding Charlie to my 'dead pool' list.
