2 reported killed on U.S. military bus at German airport

[Update 1:40 p.m. ET] President Barack Obama said Wednesday he was "saddened and outraged" by an attack in Germany that killed two Americans and wounded two others. "We will spare no effort in learning how this outrageous attack took place," Obama said, adding that American officials are working with German authorities to investigate.

[Update 11:19 a.m. ET] Two people were shot and killed Wednesday in an incident involving a U.S. military bus at Frankfurt Airport in Germany, a police spokesman said.

Another person is severely wounded, Juergen Linker told CNN, and one person is in custody.

A U.S. military official said initial reports were that two people had been killed, including the driver of the bus.

It is not clear if the driver was German or American, or military or civilian.

Two others are wounded, said the source, who is not authorized to speak publicly about the incident.

The troops killed and injured are U.S. Air Force airmen from Lakenheath base in the United Kingdom, the U.S. official said, emphasizing that the information was only preliminary.

They were security forces on their way to a deployment, the source said, without saying specifically where they were heading.

They were flying commercial, not on a military plane, according to the source.

It's believed the German police have a young Kosovo national in custody, the U.S. official said.

The U.S. military base at Ramstein in Germany regularly runs shuttles to Frankfurt for commercial flights.

[Update 10:52 a.m. ET] Two people were shot and killed Wednesday in an incident involving a U.S. military bus at Frankfurt airport in Germany, a police spokesman said.

The U.S. military did not immediately comment on the incident.

[Original post, 10:47 a.m. ET] Two U.S. soldiers were shot and killed Wednesday at Frankfurt airport, Germany's busiest airport, a police spokesman said.

There were conflicting reports as to whether the shooting took place inside a terminal or aboard a shuttle bus.

Two people were shot dead at Frankfurt airport on Wednesday and at least two others seriously injured after a man opened fire on bus full of US soldiers, according to police. Police spokesman JĂĽrgen Linker told public broadcaster HR that the incident occurred at Terminal 2 on a bus used by the US military. "It appears everything happened inside the bus," he said. The bus driver and one US soldier were reportedly killed. The authorities said they believed there was an altercation on the bus before the shooting occurred and there was no indication that it was an act of terrorism. The police said one 21-year-old suspect from Kosovo had been arrested.

The Local will have more information on this breaking story shortly.

Report is the shooter is from Kosovo. Kosovo is 90% Muslim and 10% Christian. In the 1990's the US military defended Kosovo from the Serbs thus saving the lives of tens of thousands of Kosovo's Muslim. Any guesses on whether the shooter was a Christian or Muslim?

Jake, US army didn't protect Kosovo. They occupied Serbia. They, USA, build biggest army base outside US soil (Bondstill). With this they just continue job that Adolf Hitler didn't finish with Serbian people.
FYI, word Kosovo came from serbian geographic term for Kosovo polje(Blackbird field) that is just on outskirt of Prishtina. On that field Serbian king and all knights die protecting Europe from Otoman impery(1389).
Also, full name of this Serbian provice is Kosovo and Metohia. Metohia means Monastery land.

Taking bets that our "peace loving" muslims had a hand in this.

Prayers to the family of these warriors and curses to the people responsible for this "terrorist act."

Military is mostly not brave. Just in it for the money, and the retirement and to a lot of them, ego.

    Bring our military home.

We should not be the world's policemen, keeping people like the kings of the Middle east in power.

Are you kidding? In it for the money? You obviously are not a service member! My husband has served in the Navy for 22 years. His first few years in the service, after looking at old tax papers, could have qualified him for welfare!!!!! He made nothing, but voluntarily serves his country so that you can make stupid, ignorant remarks like the one you posted. You need to be respectful of the people that have chosen to serve this country and the sacrifices they and their families make for YOU! Every military family is thinking of those killed today and everyday.

I live in Germany. The Germans are not "sick and tired" of us being here at all. In fact it wasnt even a German that was involved in the shooting. It's nice to see how many ignorant ill-informed people are commenting here though.

And not brave? I dare you to say that to the mom, dad or any other family member of someone who's lost their life serving this country.

Are you kidding me? You are such a joke. Our soldiers go over there and protect our freedom. You are only able to run your mouth because of them fighting for your right to. My husband is in for the pride of serving his country and helping. If you think your so bad and that they are only in it for the money why don't you go over there and stand in front of them since you sure as heck won't stand behind and support them. I don't see you offering to protect this nation.

Get 'em Jennifer! My husband was Marine Corps for 23 years. It is not the place you go to earn the "big bucks." Why don't you join, Commercial military complex, and see how long you stay in making the big bucks.

The world has been on for the most part an even keel because of their trying to act as mediator and stepping in when others didn't have the nerve. Joe Canadian, you do not know what your talking about and should get your facts straight. Tiffany; whats with the "Germany gives me chills thing"? What's that crap all about? Apparently the people of Kosovo haven't had enough fighting and wars either.

Wow really?! Just because it was a muslim doesn't mean to start pointing fingers at all muslims. yes, a large group of radicals wish to rid american existence but I'm pretty sure that they can't vouch for the entire muslim community. tHis is the kind of ignorance that cause events like the holocaust, rwanda, and the khmer rouge in cambodia.
