2 reported killed on U.S. military bus at German airport

[Update 1:40 p.m. ET] President Barack Obama said Wednesday he was "saddened and outraged" by an attack in Germany that killed two Americans and wounded two others. "We will spare no effort in learning how this outrageous attack took place," Obama said, adding that American officials are working with German authorities to investigate.

[Update 11:19 a.m. ET] Two people were shot and killed Wednesday in an incident involving a U.S. military bus at Frankfurt Airport in Germany, a police spokesman said.

Another person is severely wounded, Juergen Linker told CNN, and one person is in custody.

A U.S. military official said initial reports were that two people had been killed, including the driver of the bus.

It is not clear if the driver was German or American, or military or civilian.

Two others are wounded, said the source, who is not authorized to speak publicly about the incident.

The troops killed and injured are U.S. Air Force airmen from Lakenheath base in the United Kingdom, the U.S. official said, emphasizing that the information was only preliminary.

They were security forces on their way to a deployment, the source said, without saying specifically where they were heading.

They were flying commercial, not on a military plane, according to the source.

It's believed the German police have a young Kosovo national in custody, the U.S. official said.

The U.S. military base at Ramstein in Germany regularly runs shuttles to Frankfurt for commercial flights.

[Update 10:52 a.m. ET] Two people were shot and killed Wednesday in an incident involving a U.S. military bus at Frankfurt airport in Germany, a police spokesman said.

Another person is severely wounded, Juergen Linker told CNN, and one person is in custody.

The U.S. military did not immediately comment on the incident.

[Original post, 10:47 a.m. ET] Two U.S. soldiers were shot and killed Wednesday at Frankfurt airport, Germany's busiest airport, a police spokesman said.

There were conflicting reports as to whether the shooting took place inside a terminal or aboard a shuttle bus.

To the narrow minded idiots that believe "muslim" and "terrorist" are interchangeable words... There are more Muslims on this planet than there are Americans. If every Muslim wanted to kill an American, you'd all be dead. Drop the broad brush. Plenty of EXTREMIST white Christians have killed things in the name of their religion. Grow up.

This individual is just one rotten person has nothing to do with what country he came from.
I pray for the family of the servcie members who were killed and wounded and for all the others who
had to witness this. They will live with this forever having to see this man kill their comrades.
Bless our Military all over the world.

At such a time of horror and loss. So much pain is stirring in the hearts and minds of the family and friends of the slain. Yet, we see nothing but politics here. As someone had previously posted, this has absolutely nothing to do with politics or Obama or any body's "strengths," it has to do with the fact that an individual sprayed a bus with bullets for his own reasons. Just because he is a Muslim does not have anything to do with it. Believe it or not, all Muslims don't hate America! Wow, didn't you know that over a billion people practive the Islamic religion throughout the globe? Gee, i guess you do now.

I was also stationed in Germany for 4yrs, and I found the older generation really nice, some rare exceptions but mostly as nice as they could be.the younger Germans were of the inclination to not like us and show it.overall Germany was a beautiful experience!

I am deeply saddened by this, being both MUSLIM and Albanian, and might I add European, for the ignorant out there, it was a shock to everyone in my family. We are from the former Yugoslavia and now live in the United States. What this man did is not a representation of an Albanian, he's a representation of a brainwashed fool, who thinks that killing people will get him 72 virgins in heaven....It's quite embarassing to say the least...I hope he is locked up for life and I'll be praying for the family members...What America has done for Kosova could never be repaid, we should be kissing America's soil......

Why are some people that comment here so narrow-minded, don’t know anything, just because the person happened to be a Muslim or Kosovar all of them are bad. I am from Kosovo where 99.99% of Albanian people support Americans and there is that 0.01% which doesn’t like anybody and are easily convinced by anyone to do anything, especially on the name of the stupid religions. By the way Kosovo is one of very few places where an American soldier can walk freely and unarmed streets of our cities and not fear that someone will harm them. Our thoughts go to the families of the fallen. R.I.P.

First of all i work with alot of eastern europeans! In general all Serbs,Croats,Bosnians,Macedonians are good hard working people! my observation all illegal stuff the worst of the worst, human traffiking, heroin all where the albanians thrive just ask anyone from europe who are the bad guys 9 out of 10 of them will tell you albanians!!! As Americans we need to know the truth first hand reports from soldiers in Serbia in 1999 will tell you when the Serbs came into a village they spared the women and children unlike the albanians!

First my prayers go to the families of the killed soldiers. As for the guy who did it, I hope he will face justice, and be put away for good.

I feel compelled to stress the fact that this act does not represent by any means the way we Albanians feel towards U.S.

America has always been maybe the only nation that has always supported us and extended a hand to us when in need...it still continues to do that, and we are deeply grateful for that.

Many people here, ignorants and people who hate us, Albanians, are trying to take advantage of this abhorrent act, and use it against us. That is, these haters are trying to use this terrible crime, and try to convince others that this is the typical Albanian. But the world knows better, and especially Americans know better.

Nevertheless, as said before, with absolute confidence i say that more than 99.99% of Kosovars of Albanian Ethnicity love America, and are grateful for what it has done to us, and condemn this crime.

Just as there are Germans, French, British, American etc. people associated with crime, there are a few of these brainwashed morons in Kosova too...but these are isolated cases.

    Peace!

The Kosovo muslims have commited worst crimes in modern European history after WW2. They have a long record of terrorist attacks in Serbia, including hand-grenading youngsters in cafes, shooting down children bathing in a river, blowing up a coach with refugees, raping, maiming, and burning down previously tortured to death civilians ... They are the biggest stock for hard drugs smuggled from Asia and sold across Europe.
Kosovo muslims were made a state as a reward for terrorism, kidnapping people on national basis and harvesting their organs, and leveling down numeorus Christian churches and graveyards – all for installing Bondstill military basis for free.
But making a deal with criminals and terrorists, as we can see, does not pay in the long run. They tend to turn on their allies after a while.

There is no people in Europe in the last 50 years that has been so unjustly and badly victimised as Serbs. There is no people that has suffered so greatly and fallen victims of such bad propaganda and lies.

Explore a bit, and you will know. The truth has started revealing itself.

Wow, I'm simply amazed at how everyone can take this story about a terrible crime and turn it into something completely irrelevant. Religion, nationality, politics whatever. What's important is that two people died and others were wounded. The reasons for the crime, at this point, are unknown so why don't we all just have a moment of silence for those poor people and their families? As a military wife, this hits too close to home, and I'm saddened by the fact that you all would rather argue than grieve.

So, the boys who erected Bill Clinton monument in Pristina are now killing American boys. When is your administration is going wake-up and start using their brains (if any) instead of their bottoms in geopolitical affairs?
