Doctor to face death penalty trial in late-term abortions case

Philadelphia prosecutors say they may seek the death penalty against abortion doctor Kermit Gosnell, who is charged with murder after allegedly performing illegal late-term abortions at a dirty facility.

Authorities allege that some of the infants were born viable and alive during the sixth, seventh and eighth months of pregnancy and then were killed with scissors, which were used to cut their spinal cords.

Gosnell, 70, faces eight counts of murder in the deaths of seven babies and a 41-year-old woman.

There aren't words to express how vile and disgusting this is. What has humanity come to.

This is exactly what happens when people are desperate for an abortion and it's illegal, back room slaughters of women and fetuses/babies. Abortions should be between a woman(her body)not the government and her doctor. This is such a sad story, but desperate people will always do desperate things 🙁

You have no idea what you are talking about. Abortion isn't illegal in any state in the country, and it is widely available in Philadelphia. It is also available nearly for free if one cannot afford it at any number of Planned Parenthood clinics. I sincerely hope you aren’t attempting to make an ideological argument for reproductive rights using the murder of a delivered child as evidence. For the record, I am pro-abortion, but no one in their right mind would call what this guy did anything but cold blooded murder.

Uh, not true actually. Abortions can not be funded by any nonprofit, women have to pay for it themselves. And if you can't well it sucks to be you.

Its too bad the desperate people resorting to desperate measures don't try being proactive by using birth control. Its a lot less painful on many levels.

What about post-term abortions? I'm against abortion, but against law. Seems a personal thing. All arguing about when life starts are put to rest after birth. We have laws for this. 1st degree murder they call it.

@ TimMcG Well said, you are so right. I am pro-abortion but this is to far. This is only going to make abortion seem like 'the devil's work' and give good doctors a bad name. This is sick and this man should get the death penalty.

it is murder regardless of what time frame you're looking at! the fact that it is legaly available with specifics, doesn't make it right as an option!

Actually, if they had not been "born" they would not have been viable. That means the doctor in question would not have had to end their lives with scissors.

Abortion may be legal ... but protests outside of clinics, and the assasination of doctors is making abortions almost impossible to get in certain cities and states.

Late term abortions should be for medical reasons only. What he did was illegal and he should have to pay the piper.
I'm still pro choice as long as the rules are followed.
