Lady Gaga threatens to sue over 'Baby Gaga' human breast milk ice cream

Lady Gaga has threatened to sue the makers of an ice cream made from human breast milk if they don't stop selling the product under the name "Baby Gaga."

News of the flavor's sale in a London sweets shop by a waitress dressed like Lady Gaga raised eyebrows worldwide and led to its confiscation after the Westminister City Council deemed it unfit for human consumption.

That hasn't stopped the meat-wearing entertainer from accusing Covent Garden's Icecreamists of riding her "coattails" to promote a "deliberately provocative" product that many consider "nausea-inducing," according to legal documents filed on her behalf.

In using her name and her image, Gaga - whose real name is Stefani Germanotta - accuses the shop of misleading the public into believing she endorses the concoction of breast milk, vanilla pods and lemon zest.

"The references you are making to Lady Gaga are thus clearly deliberate and intended to take advantage of her reputation and good will," the document states.

Furthermore, "associating the Lady Gaga mark with a food product which may be unsafe for human consumption (owing to the risk of it carrying such viruses as hepatitis) is also highly detrimental" to her brand, according to the document.

Gaga demands that Icecreamists change the name of the ice cream to something that is not "aurally, visually or conceptually similar" to Lady Gaga and to remove all references to Baby Gaga from their website and marketing materials or face an injunction and further legal proceedings.

The owner of Icecreamists, Matt O'Connor, said he intends to fight the allegations, which he calls "preposterous and outrageous."

He also said he plans to continue selling the breast milk ice cream under the name Baby Gaga if he gets the ice cream back from the council.

"We think this is very unnecessary, the whole thing will be over by next week, but we are prepared to fight this in court," he said.

Googoo gaga. Ever heard of that Lady dumdum. This is part of an expression that has been around along time. Perhaps someone should have sued you first. I remember at least one TV commercial where a father is leaning over his babies crib contemplating college education cost. I believe these words were used. Memory may be a little dim. There, why not trademark something like "dimwit."

Regarding the waitress dressing like Gaga...she dressed up wearing steaks one day...what does it mean to dress like "gaga". She's so vain.
My wife had lost of frozen breast milk in the freezer that we had to throw away when she was pumping it. I wish we had tried making popsicles just for fun. 🙂

A lot of babies are breast fed and they turn out just fine. I don't see breast milk ice cream being a problem as long as the women who donate it are quadruple tested for anything they might carry. Perhaps the women giving the ice cream take a note from her fashion sense, since she is a celebrity, and decide to dress like her. Doesn't automatically mean they're selling the ice cream off her. Does that mean that a man who wears a red shirt gets to sue a man wearing the same color shirt?

They're clearly infringing on her brand. it's about intent. Their intent is to sell a product by using her brand. Also, CNN, it's Westminster not Westminister. It's actually a neat parlor and they did a good job renovating it from the bland internet cafe that used to occupy the space.

honestly, people don't regulate what goes into thier bodies, and that is why I would never eat human breast milk icecream. also, human born diseases would transfer in it, the same reason why you shouldn't breast feed if you are sick, have any blood born diseases, or consume and medications. cows on the other hand ARE regulated. just my two cents

OH NO we should hurry and stop doing blood transfusions too....i mean people who are donating blood could have diseases or be taking medications or eating foods with high fructose corn syrup.....and I mean you have a 1:1 ratio of getting a disease after receiving tainted blood!!!! Oh wait we screen blood and blood donators, phew. Now if only we could apply these screening techniques to breast milk....hmmmm...
